      • lol I'm not even going to say anything this time. I am looking forward to the Dempsey-Johnson fight again though.

Interesting fact: Marciano was going to come out of retirement to fight Sonny Liston since he couldn't stand the guy.

Why did Marciano hate Liston's guts?

          • I don't know. My guess is probably because of Liston's personality.

                yea i know

Liston was the only guy he wanted to come out of retirement to fight because he didn't like him. Marciano wanted to come out of retirement to fight Patterson because he liked the guy,

He hated Liston because Liston was sort of an ******* and probably because of his mob ties. If you read Marciano's bio you'll understand that Marciano's enitre family couldn't stand the mob, he thought they were an embarassment to the Italians.

I believe fully that if Marciano and Liston met 5 times Marciano would win at least 3 or 4 of the 5 times

                • While we know it will be Ali vs. Liston in the finals, and every match leading up to that point will have surprise turnaround knockouts, it's at least entertaining. Plus, it's fun patronizing butterfly1964.

                    • vs.

Welcome to Sam Houston Coliseum, where Foreman will try to bounce back from a game two loss that occured just 6 miles away in the Astrodome to ali. Foreman weighed in at 220, and Ali was 210. now let's go to the tale of the tape.

                      George Foreman

                      age: 24
                      height: 6'-4"
                      weight: 220
                      reach: 81"
                      record: 38-0-0 (35ko)

                      Muhammad Ali

                      age: 25
                      height: 6'-3"
                      weight: 210
                      reach: 83"
                      record: 29-0-0 (23ko)

And now Muhammad Ali is coming in to the ring wearing a red robe. Muhammad almost looks like Santa Claus in that robe! he is also wearing red shoes. some people cheer when he comes.

George Foreman comes in the 65,000 screaming fans show their appreciation. foreman is wearing a black robe.

Michael Buffer: Ladiiiiies and geeentlemeeen, introducing, from houston, texas, wearing red trunks with white trim, he stands six feet three, he weighs two hundred eleven pounds, he is the greatest, muhamaaad aaaliiii!!(a few cheers could be heard among the fans) and his opponent, also from houston, he's wearing black trunks with white trim, he stands six foot four, he weighs two hundred twenty pounds, "biiiiiiiiiiiiiig" geooooooooorge fooooooooooooremaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!(65,000 people scream hysterically)

here is the referee mark conn giving the instructions.

conn: alright boys, you know the rules of the texas state athletic boxing commision. i want a good clean fight, remember to protect yourself at all times, any questions? ok, good luck.

Round 1: Ali comes out agressively, quickly throwing stiff shots. foreman walks through them and throws shots of his own. they get into a clinch, and they both are trying desperately to outmuscle the other, but mark conn pulls them apart. Ali dances and moves and suprisingly still presses the fight, moving in with leads and moving back when needed. still foreman gets some good shots and makes the fight close: both men seem settled and rested.

Round 2: Foreman is still patient and is cutting off the ring, and ali is on his toes and puts good punches together. they clinch and foreman does some body work to weaken and slow ali down. foreman then pushes ali away. ali uses his jab and straight right well. foreman gets ali on the ropes and lands some good head and body shots. ali continues to out box foreman in ring center as foreman throws jabs and straight rights that land at a steady percentage: ali needs rest from that exchange, but foreman looks pretty good.

Round 3: Foreman comes out and uses his jab well, and his straight right land effectively. ali still is jabbing himself and trying to stay away, not being as aggresive as last time. Ali still cannot stay away from foreman for too long, because foreman is right in him swarming into him like joe frazier did, without the bobbing and weaving: dundee is giving ali a good working over cause he is exhausted. saddler however, is calmly giving george instructions and foreman listens intently.

Round 4: Ali keeps moving and grooving, and foreman throws big punches. somehow, foreman gets ali up against the ropes and pummels him, landing crisp, clean body and head blows, that stun ali. when they separate, ali attemps to stay away, but those shots took their toll and he is a bit slower. ali layes on the ropes to recover and after about a minute, he comes back with a tremendous flurry that rocks foreman. ali moves in to finsh, but foreman hangs tough: ali still needs a little rest, but so does george.

Round 5: Foreman is a bit tired from the last round and ali seems to have recovered, becasue he is now fast on his feet and is fighting from the periphery well. foreman still lands some good shots, but foreman is now missing wild shots due to his decreased accuracy by way of fatique. still he fights on landing some body blows. ali uses his jab well and counterpunches george. ali now is looking better as george tires trying to catch the elusive ali, but most of the time falls short because of the lack of conditioning of the part pf George Foreman: Foreman clearly needs some rest, and ali looks a bit better.

Round 6: Ali is still on his toes for most of the round and he dazzles foreman dancing and he performs his ali shuffle followed by his famous one-two. foreman takes it, but he has no answer to those shots because ali slips george's big bombs. george comes back with a left uppercut that rocks ali and he goes back on the ropes as the round ends: ali is a little shaken up by that round, and foreman seems OK.

Round 7: Foreman is a bit tired of chasing after ali and throwing the amount of puunches that he did. ali jabs and jabs and looks for an opening for the attack. foreman hits ali with a right hand, but foreman's power has greatly diminished because of the lack of stamina. ali decides to carry the attack. ali throws a one-two that stuns george and ali follows it up with left and right hooks to the jaw and then a textbook over hand right that numbs foreman and foreman stumbles and then he clinches. ali pushes the now tired foreman off and he continues. ali keeps fighting from the periphery and boxes well: Foreman needs a lot of rest, but ali looks well kept.

Round 8: Ali comes out trying to end it, but foreman is taking every punch that ali throws at him. ali is now teeing off at george's head, and george answers with a missed right uppercut, and he goes down from a slip, but the crowd thinks he was dropped. mark conn was right on it signaling "no knockdown". ali keeps on george landing some hard flatfooted shots. foreman has no answer as ali keeps doing this until the bell rings: foreman's eye is well puffed up, ali is unmarked.

Round 9: Ali is doing the same thing he did in the last round, presuring the tired george. george seems to have lost the firepower he had in the earlier rounds, so ali takes over, outmuscling him and out pointing him. foreman is taking all the shots and still fights back with a thunderous right from nowhere that has ali worried. ali lays on the ropes as foreman moves inon him with some good shots as the bell rings: both men are visibly tired, especially foreman.

Round 10: Ali is now on his toes and staying away from foreman, because he is more cautious, realizing hat even when tired, the 24year old foreman is still dangerous. ali dances along the periphery, and he is gonna stay on his bicycle for as long as his elusive feet can take him. foreman is slow in cutting off the ring and is still lokking a might sluggish. this is ali's round as he keeps along ring center and he boxes well: foreman's eye is a bit cut, and ali is still unmarked.

Round 11: Ali keeps dancing around foreman and landing his jab. foreman jab and parrs a little, but to no avail, as ali's two inch advantage in reach is not wasted. foreman attempts to make a fight of it, landing a fast left jab and then one of his wide left hooks that momentarily stun ali. ali recovers and continues to dance: ali looks pretty good and foreman is trying desperately to get some needed energy.

Round 12: Ali is flatfooted, but still moving. Ali is moving welland slipping those foreman haymakers with ease. foreman however answers back with a good left hook but ali walks through it. foreman follows up with a one-two combo, and ali is pushed againmst the ropes where foreman is pounding him with good blows, harder blows than in the last few rounds. I suppose foreman has gained some well needed energy. foreman does this until they clinch. ali keeps staying away and survives this round: saddler is giving foreman instructions and closing that eye, and dundee is applying ice to ali's very slightly puffed up eye.

Round 13: Foreman fights back and lands some good blows. ali comes back lands some good blows that stun foreman. foreman is tried and ali cashes in on it. ali throws lighning fast stable punches and foreman slumps down to the canvas! foreman is up at 5, and ali keeps on him trying to end it and the bell ending the round sounds: foreman looks like he's ready to go, so does ali. both men are tired.

Round 14: Foreman comes out, trying to land that one big bomb. ali still moves well and is content to win a decision. foreman keeps on him. ali still is on his toes a bit, but he stops periodically and takes more breaks, because he is a bit tired. foreman gets him on the ropes and hits to the body for a half a round, and then steps back. ali throws a prayer of a right, but misses and foreman capitalizes with an uppercut. ali stays away for the rest of the round: ali still is tired, but not as much as foreman.

Round 15: Ali comes out and throws some good sots and then dances away from foreman. foreman is aattemptinfg furiously to get ali out of there before the final bell rings, but he is slow and tired and ali dominates the sluggish foreman. this is a beautiful finish for the dancing master as he decimates foreman with his left jab and his myriad of punches. foreman looks similar to the way he did when he fought jimmy young. But yet still, foreman throws a vicious left hook in an attempt to end the fight, but ali pulls back from it far enough for the punch to just graze his jaw and it has no effect on ali's senses. ten seconds are left as ali throws two laft jabs and left and right hooks and the bell rings. the fight is over. ali and foreman embrace and walk back to their respective corners.

Foreman was down in the thirteenth. Foreman was cut in the right eye, and ali's left eye was slightly puffed up. here is michael buffer with the decision.
