Only reason he rematched, "The Atomic Bull" was he knew the guy had been in a drug-rehab for 3 months. McCall was only day's out of the rehab, no training, no trainer, no sparring. A Typical Lewis fight.. Lewis tried to sue Mike Tyson into a second fight LOL.. knowing the doctors had upped his medication lets not forget others on his resume:

Morrison - HIV
Golota - Steroids
Vitali - Steroids
Tucker - Heroin
Briggs - Steroids
Botha - Steroids

Before throwing the finger around...you are like my youngest child Sonny. When he gets ridiculous and I humor him he has a tantrum. You might reserve the tantrum in this case. I happen to agree that Mccall was not in fighting condition that second time. But its you against the world, the one knowledgable boxing fan against the masses... And statictically as improbable as it may seem... virtually every Lewis victory was predicated on the devious Lennox Lewis, the same mastermind who as a commentator makes such insightful comments as (after the guy is hit 3 times) "he should defend better", planned and made sure every guy he fought worth his salt was at his worse....

If Lewis went pro in 1985.

How would things have been different if Lennox Lewis decided to turn pro in 1985, after the '84 Olympics?

He probably would have had a better career..

I think what hurt lennox was it took him til about 92-93 to really establish himself but by that time bowe and holyfield were busy and tyson in prison.. Had lewis turned pro in 1985, by 88-89 he would have established himself and 90-95 probably would have secured huge fights with Bowe, tyson, evander, foreman.. Timing is everything, and alittle earlier start by lennox would have made his career even more lucrative

he tried to cash in on a gold medal and went to england after representing Canada in two olympic games. It all comes down to what type of backing he would have gotten without the gold medal and who would train him. He had a good career . Would he have found the right management to move him correctly ?

I honestly see Lennox going on a Decade long Joe Louis like run with maybe one surprise loss in which he wouldve immediately avenged. Something like 50-1 and being hailed as a top 2 heavyweight all time.

I don't know if he beats a prime Tyson though, with his power and Lewis' chin issues. He would probably prepare well and take him seriously at least. We've seen it only takes maybe a couple of solid shots to hurt Lewis. If he gets past him and Holyfield though in the mid to late '80s, then yeah he could've been at least top 3-5.

Lewis would not have made a title contender. Lewis fought Tony Tucker in 1993. Lewis looked terrible but Tucker looked even worse, Tucker's legs had gone and he was only a shell of the fighter he was back in 86/7 it's clear Tucker would have defeated Lewis in the mid 80s. Lewis struggled with Frank Bruno in 93 when Bruno was at the tail-end of his career, yet still gave Lewis a boxing lesson. Bruno of 88 would have knocked out Lewis. Tim Witherspoon of the mid 1980s would have smashed Lewis chin into a million pieces. If Frank Bruno could give Lewis a lesson in jabbing, think what Carl "The Truth"Williams would do? Bonecrusher Smith, Greg Page, Buster Douglas who all measure up to Lewis in size yet who were vastly superior to the like of Hasim Rahman or Oliver McCall... Mike Dokes and Tony Tubbs, both vastly superior than Ray Mercer who Lewis struggled with... Evander Holyfield 87-97 was a completely different fighter than the "aged washed-up" version which Lewis fought in 1999 were Lewis was unfortunate to only get a draw, then very fortunate to be gifted a decision in their rematch...Holyfield of 87-97 was a "Warrior" of the highest calibre, who would surely have no trouble beating Lewis.. Rid**** Bowe of 91-95 was vastly superior than any version of Lennox Lewis... Mike Tyson from 86-90 would most likely knock out Lennox Lewis in the opening round.
