I agree with Sergio Martinez being close to ATG status and maybe 1-2 big wins would seal the deal for me for sure and would make it hard to argue against it if that were the case

I think Nonito has a ways to go still but like you said he is in a very talanted division and if the big fights get made and he prevails he could be at the doorstep of greatness

Ward has the tools but the opposition needs to be there

Agreed. As is, posterity will fondly remember Donaire, even if he comes a little short of ATG status. I think he's pretty close, though.

Martinez isn't anywhere close to ATG status he's not even HOF status as far as I'm concerned.

I was hoping someone would finally say that before I had to. Martinez will make the HOF but I would probably rate him similar to someone like Nino Benvenuti, who was not a ATG.

And Shane Mosley is not an ATG either.

I wouldn't put Martinez near Benvenuti or Mosley, myself.

He did say that he has retired only a few months back

Yes, I just read some quotes from him the other day saying he was done fighting. But I'm guessing that the right offer might change his mind.

Floyd, Canelo, Cotto, GGG, Ward so none of these fights will likely ever happen but if Sergio beat say three of these guys to close out his career he's not an ATG?
