So like I said I don't think he fights more than one of these fights and I don't think he can beat any of them convincingly anyhow well maybe Cotto and Canelo

It's just my opinion, but I think Martinez is at the tail end of his career. He is almost 40 and seems to be breaking down physically. But of course if he proves me wrong and adds to his resume then everything is re-evaluated.

Where did you read that? I thought I saw that somewhere but can't remember where from now. What about Roy Jones? Speaking of Cotto, nice TKO win for him this weekend. Left hooks to the body and head. Where was that the last 2 fights?

I think Nonito has a ways to go still but like you said he is in a very talanted division and if the big fights get made and he prevails he could be at the doorstep of greatness

Ward has the tools but the opposition needs to be there
very good post, I totally agree.

I think people claiming that Martinez is not an ATG or even close just hate him. It annoys me that a forum about boxing has very few boxing fans and far too many fighters fans.

If he beat Golovkin he'd have a half decent case for the HOF.

I like Martinez, but I'm just being honest about his status. The expression "ATG" means very little if the list is populated with every good fighter that comes around. Sorry, but you just can't compare Sergio with Monzon, Hagler, Robinson, etc. because he beat Kelly Pavlik and Paul Williams.

I read that on a link from my Twitter feed. It was just the other day so I'm sure about it. Holyfield was saying that Povetkin had a punchers chance against WK and then admitted that his own career was over.

I actually met Evander Holyfield recently.

He said if the he doesn't get a Klitschko fight by October (His birthday) then he's retiring.

he beat the best available middleweights, Pavlik was the lineal champ and he has beaten the best available contenders on offer.

It's not just his resume, at his best, his speed, reflexes and power were all elite level, I think, prime v prime, he gives any middleweight on the planet, in history, a tough fight, winning a fair few. A win against GGG would put him up there as one of the best title reigns since Monzon.

Are you saying he's an ATG MW or ATG in general?

I could see an argument for ATG MW if he beats Golovkin(Depending on the cut off point for ATG rankings at a division) although the MW division is very rich historically of course.
