no but Ross fought mostly italians, and other ethnic bases in NY,,,, alot of his opponent were the equivalent of gatti or ward,,, tough guys that can fight,,,

I just dont say this about ross, i say this about all the old school fighters early days to the 60's.... Mob played a big role in all the major fights,,, Barney Ross was a *** boxer so they matched him up with italians, irish, latino,,, to play off the ethnic groups against each other,,,, there was alot of "clicks"

Barney ross was a hell of a fighter,, tough as nails,,, not dis*****g that,, I just wonder what black guys didnt get their shot,, there is a long history of african-american fighters not getting their shots,,,, It wasnt till the 60's and television that made the sport less "clickish", yes the mob still had huge control of the sport but their grasp was slipping,,,,

And you have yet to answer my questions of what black fighters he fought,,,
If Ross went thru 3 divisions and was lineal champ in each, there must have been some quality black opponents,, but the black fanbase couldnt buy tickets, wasnt connected to the mob so they sat on the outside looking in,,,

there should be some kind of * put next to holyfield's career when people talk about how great he is. the steroids take away from what would otherwise be a stellar legacy.

Yes i kinda agree,,, did he ever pop for roids,,, how did all of that come about,,,,,
was his retirement after the moorer loss legit, or was he just needing time to cycle on and off....

TBH he looked great vs mercer, crap vs cyzz, and then beat down tyson and moorer...

When do people think he was on them,,, 94-99 is what im thinking,,,

I just havent seen it discussed to much length,, heard the accusations but have never heard all the facts,,,

Im sure some of the guys on here knows about it,,, can someone please post
