Who is Greater: Evander Holyfield or Barney Ross?

Barney Ross for me, and I once considered myself to be a big Holyfield fan.

Ross would have had the call anyway, but the steriod and HGH links has put a question mark over Evander's whole career, particularly at heavyweight.

Both terrific competitors as to accomplishments I think Ross has achieved more but Evander gets high points for bullying the bully into DQing himself because Tyson knew his bravado wasn't going to work against Evander!

As one of the greats of my lifetime, i'd like to be able to raise an argument for Evander, but with so many su****ions and allegations, it's a bit awkward to say the very least...
How much **** is there, actually on Holyfield?.. Or is it, just stuff that'll come out in the wash when ( or if) he ever retires?

There are both great but if I had to choose I would say Barney Ross.

both are great fighters,,,

Ross was a 3 division champ

holyfield was a 2 time divisional champ
but holy was 3 time undisputed champ at heavy,, only ali can say that...

plus holyfield was the greatest cruiser of all-time.......

hard to put ross over holyfield when ross isnt considered the best of all-time in any of his 3 divisions,,,
Yes there was more competition for the greatest ever in the lower weight classes and cruiser hasnt been around but like 30 years....

still though, being 3 time lineal champion at heavy is one of the hardest things ever to accomplish

holmes, tyson, louis, frazier, etc,,
nobody has been able to do it, but ali and holy....

Ross was a Tough SOB but so was holy,,

I feel they are both in the same category/league and couldnt put one over the other,,,

Holyfield was lineal champion twice from looking up his record. Was WBA champ 4 times though. Beat Douglas and Bowe for lineal/Ring heavyweight title, he never won the WBC belt from Lewis, so wasn't undisputed later.

All of that aside, when you look at their resumes its clear that Ross is the greater fighter.
