Actually .. come to think of it.

Someone list me 100 fighters with a resume better than Lewis.

If you can't. Lewis is not just an 'ATG' Heavyweight. But an ATG Period.

Top 100 fighters of all times = ATG Regardless of weight class.


Multiple boxing sources got Lewis as a top 100 fighter (overall).

Posters on this site like 'IronDan' and others , you guys sound knowledgeable and intelligent. but if someone asked 'will I trust ESPN, who put Lennox at top 10 HW" or some poster on 'boxingscene' who put Lennox Lewis at top 15.. I will say I trust ESPN.

Will I trust 'boxingnews' rankings or some poster on BoxingScene (a website made by fans for fans of boxing).. I must go with the official source. I must go with the writers and analysts who actually do this for a living as oppose to fans who just voice their opinions (regardless of how good)


You guys can mock and insult the writers all you guys want. Laugh at them behind your keyboards and belittle their opinions, viewing them as 'delusional or idiotic' but the bottom line is.

Boxing is their profession. Boxing is YOUR HOBBY. I have yet to hear a writer who said 'Lennox Lewis is not an ATG, just an 'ATG HEAVYWEIGHT' That is borderline nit picking at it's finest.

So just list 100 fighters with a resume greater than Lewis. If you can.

No offense, but you sure seem awfully sensitive about what other people say about a now retired fighter. And it seems clear there is a distinction between and being in the all time top 10 heavyweights rather than the all time top 10 P4P lists. Most of the boxing writers you regard as qualified wouldn't put Lennox anywhere near that level.

And speaking for myself, I hold IronDan's opinion higher than I would ESPN's Dan Rafael. Maybe because I'm very familiar with both of their insights having read them for years.

the heavyweight division is looked at differently then P4P lists. there is no weight limit so a HW doesn't have to worry about making weight. i don't think you can compare any other weight class with the HWs because of this. i don't think HWs have to work as hard as the lower weight classes in their preparation for a fight so they shouldn't be on the P4P list...just my opinion

I don't even put Muhammed Ali or Joe Louis on p4p lists. I just don't think Heavyweights belong there. I'm not fond of p4p lists in general tbh. I prefer ranking fighters strictly within weight classes.

P4P is not a proven concept.
Resume is.


That's why there are always two lists

Top 100 P4P FIGHTERS

and

Top 100 Boxers.




Nobody said Lewis is top 100 p4p. The guy's 6'5 244.. No p4p list can fit him.


But I definitely think he have a top 100 resume..

Which make him a top 100 fighter overall.

I claim to know enough about boxing to safety say with a rocket launcher to my head.. Lennox Lewis is a certified top 100 ATG (ALL DIVISIONS)


The truth of the matter is.. it don't matter if it's ESB Classics(a place that ranks and loves Lewis a lot more than the Scene) or if it's this website.. the vast majority of you have not even see 100 Certified ATG'S fight enough times to make a judgement. Hence it is impossible for the vast majority of you to say Lewis is not a top 100 fighter. It's just unrealistic.

You can't just boxrec and read up on stats+names and nod to yourself and say 'Yep I rank him above him' .. boxing history don't work like that. You shouldn't even be able to rank anyone (outside of cases like Greb) that you haven't' seen fight at least 5+ times on film. It's just unrealistic and highly absurd to rank based on stats and boxrec.. over film footage.

I refuse to believe that there are 100 fighters caught on film greater than Lennox Lewis... and more to the point I refuse to believe anyone on this site or ESB or any website in general have seen 100+ Fighters greater than Lewis at least 5+ times each in action.


It's absurd and highly unrealistic. Absurdity.
