RJJ vs Hagler

One could argue Marvin Hagler beat better fighters between his first losses and winning the title than he did after, sparing Hearns. Hart, the revenge wins over Monroe and Watts, BRISCOE (even if Bennie were past peak)...there was some flat out sick talent out in Philly. Seales could fight too. Add to them Minter and Anutfermo (both good fighters if not GREAT with a capital "G") and tough contenders like Roldan and Hamsho in his reign and you have a full resume on hand.
Castro was a tough hombre but, really, a one hit wonder (the miracle against Jackson) who also managed some highly debatable hometown calls against Johnson. Good fighter, but hardly in a class with even the older Briscoe or even the younger Duran. Heck, he was just a class above his best weight when he fought Duran and couldn't beat the old man's ghost.

Castro went on to be arguable the best middleweight in the world for a short period which is as great of an accomplishment as anything any of the guys Hagler beat minus Hearns did
Also Vaca and Mulinga>BriscoeLast edited by SCtrojansbaby; 08-23-2011, 11:15 PM.

Ok but Vaca was coming off 3 good wins against Mark Breland and Quincy Taylor. I am not saying Vaca was a great fighter anything but Roy knocked him out in the first round which is what makes it a very good win.
Oh and Briscoe lost to some guy named David Love after Hagler beat him like I said Vaca>Briscoe

Haglers mw resume >>> Jones mw resume, that isnt even debatable
h2h its a 50/50 imo
It would be wrong too underestimate Hagler in this match-up,Jones has a big edge in handspeed thats a given, but i believe the marvellous one holds more advantages over Roy than Roy does over him, plus Jones never faced as well a rounded opponent with the caliber of Hagler at any weight, let alone 160

Anyways, were not comparing resume's. This is a head to head matchup and as the poll inticates above, Jones beats Haggler prime 4 prime.
It's debatable but the results speak for themselves.Last edited by Mr. Invincible; 08-24-2011, 08:59 AM.

I know its a h2h match-up,thats why i actually explained why i think its a 50/50,i make my own mind up instead of going off what the 'poll indicates',and yes its very debatable, thats why the results of the poll are close
