I don't hate old timers, i don't rate them because there isn't enough video
What if the only film of Roy we had was of the Green and Calzaghe ??????.... That's my point,.... someone just mentioned Hopkin's resume... what about that one ?... Roy beat him, but Roy is a bigger man,,,,,... And Calzaghe's resume,.... it has Jones on it, and he never lost a fight. Then there's your good mate Manny Pacquiao,..... oops, don't wanna get you started. I hope you enjoyed the cartoons.

I think Spinks was a great win for Tyson. His best win actually. The win shouldn't be downgraded by the fact that Spinks was frightened beyond belief as intimidation was part of what made Tyson what he was.

Topic: Jones has some fine wins on his resumé, but there's just no way that he has the best resumé since 1970. No way at all.

I wouldn't rate Roy if only 2 of his fights were available

Hopkins has a great resume but it lacks the A level win. Also it doesn't matter if Roy was bigger man that is just another thing that makes him so unbeatable

The fact that Calzaghe couldn't stop the past prime Roy just shows how crappy Calzaghe is.

Manny Pacquiao obviously has a quality resume and has that A+ win(over Barrera) he probable should have solidified himself as the greatest ever but he wasted the last 3-4

We wouldn't argue he has better resume than Roy Jones', would we?

Loss's don't go onto a resume. If you apply for a job and you don't get it, you don't put that on your resume.

Oscar fought a better list of fighters but Roy Jones Jr's resume is certainly better than Oscar's.

I'd say Roy's best win over Toney surpasses anything Oscar did. Other than that I see it as very close and something that can be argued in Oscars favor. That of course is only MY opinion. Im not convinced, but Im open to more idea's on why Jones resume is better. No matter how it's looked at though there is just no way it can be considered the best of the modern era EVEN if that modern era starts in 1971.

Joe Clazaghe and Sven Ottke immidiately springs to mind. There's probably more though.

On this thread I agree with most of what you're saying but not all of it........... Calzaghe for one, of course he didn't KO Jones, since when was he a big puncher, if he was Roy goes down by the 9th, just count the punches,... but it wasn't a prime Jones,...... as for unbeatable,.... that applies to those who at least won every fight since their apprenticeship and you can count them with your ten fingers,.... Unfortunately, Roy lost a few in his last 5 years,..... and you can't use the old excuse,.... if he was smarter he'd have done a Marciano and retired at the top....... there are forgivable cases like Carruthers and Jeffries who both retired as undefeated champions but were left no choice but to make comebacks after years of retirement, and spoiled perfect records. Of course they are going to fail when they do that, and nobody can hold those losses against them.

It was Calzaghes last fight man. He knew it before the fight as well and he was 37 at the time.

That fight is a poor model to use as an empirical measure of truth.

Meh, 168 pounds weightclass has only been around since 1984. Also, both men you mentioned are widely considered overrated. Their special "0" says it all.
