IMO, Hagler's only real peer at 160 was Carlos Monzon.

And prime vs prime, I think Hagler would have been too much for him.

Or maybe they would split a pair of fights, Hagler losing the first fight close but winning the second time, by TKO.

Hagler is the greatest pure Middleweight Champion of all time.

I don't know about that, there is one that hardly anyone mentions him at MW, I have written extensively so I won't mention him because I'm sure you never even heard of him anyway. Needless to say HE WAS A HUGE MW, and bigger than Hagler too.

I agree completely but you also can't bash recent fighters for not having a great resume and not bash Hagler also. Hagler is ranked highly for the same reason Larry Holmes and Floyd Mayweather are, great skills and that is it, all of them have crappy resumes(when compared to other ATGs)

I just think Robbo was better, and a far tougher proposition for Hagler than Leonard,. SRL couldn't hurt Hagler, but SRR was a far harder puncher and Robinson would hit Hagler easier than Leonard,.and many that you mentioned above would have beaten Leonard at MW........ I just hope you liked the song at least,.... and the two Hagler tributes I posted.

Hagler would hit Robinson harder and easier than Fullmer, Turpin, LaMotta, and Basilio did....he'd be coming at Ray from the left side with more quality than any of those 4.

Robinson is definitely a greater fighter than Hagler, but not a better middleweight.

I think it's the opponents he fought and because he didn't travel weights. Hagler was the king of that division for a long time and fought top fighters who were proven.

It makes me sick when I see people saying Hopkins is the better middleweight.

I agree with that, Hopkins does not have a better resume, and he probably did so well BECAUSE there was NO HAGLER for him too fight, and don't mention Roy Jones, cos he beat Hopkins.

I don't know how a fight with him and Hagler would go. I'll give you a hint,.. He's Australian, and his name is not Ron Richards, Dave Sands or Fred Henneberry,.............. It'd be a great fight between two impregnable chins,...... the bloke I'm talking about was never knocked down or stopped and he had KO power of the highest order,.. Fair enough, I wouldn't critisize any of your opinions, if you think someone is greater than another fair enough, just one question, wasn't Hagler still formidable in 87', most people at the time thought he was unbeatable, a claim made hundreds of times through the era's. I have always been troubled with SRR's loss to Turpin !!!, Turpin wasn't even the best TURPIN, I've heard claims that his brother **** was better. Maybe Robinson was fighting too often, I'll have to look at the lead up to the Turpin fight to answer that.
