Sure Vitali has a better chin and is tougher, Chuvalo was tougher as well, are you going to try and tell me that Chuvalo is greater then Wlad ?, no chance.

It comes down to what they achieved not how good their beard is which is one of the only arguments you could make for Vitali being better (The other being work rate, what else does he have, really ?) then Wlad, Wlad has achieved a whole lot more then Vitali.

Loosing to a fat old inactive Lewis in your prime is not good not matter how you try to spin it, neither is loosing to Purrity, Brewster or Sanders but stop trying to make it sound like that loss should somehow make Vitali look better, it doesn't.

(quality win = quality opponent, and Wlad hasn't fought any).

Wlad has dominated the era and has racked up enough title defenses (As the real champ) and better wins too be rated clearly over Vitali who has nothing to his name in terms of resume, which should really be no.1 in priority when ranking.

You're focusing too much on the bad of Wlad and just ignoring the good things, kind of an odd thing to do.

As I said no point in debating fantasy fights that can never happen but the lack of respect for two very good fighters who take on everyone available regardless of what anyone thinks of those competitors is evident in this section.

If the opponents are not quality opponents you can't just pretend they don't exist. It is what it is. For example: Ali beating Foreman is more impressive than Vitali beating Sam Peter whether you like it or not.

Yes they take on everyone. No, its not their fault their comp sucks. Should that be simply overlooked?

Throw Holmes in that boat too then, I don't think his longevity should be overlooked just because many ppl don't think he fought in a great era.

Thats silly, as if he can't improve which he did immensely since then. Even after the Purrity loss he was still not fighting to suit his attributes look at how he was crouching down and trying to stalk a huge puncher like Sanders.

Anyone can get beat in there, one poorly timed movement by any ATG HW against yes Corrie Sanders and its nap time.

Corrie Sanders is not all that. The only top ten fighter he ever beat was Wlad. And fighters like Ali or Foreman would not have "nap time" against the likes of Sanders. Corrie Sanders is not all that. The only top ten fighter he ever beat was Wlad. And fighters like Ali or Foreman would not have "nap time" against the likes of Sanders. He isn't great but would always be dangerous against anyone much like Shavers and could potentially put a fighter to sleep if they made a mistake even if that particular fighter would generally have the skill to beat him.

I think it says alot about someone's character and dedication when they lose(and badly) then comeback and improve to become the best in the world.

Anyone can lose no one is perfect, developing skills takes time and in Wlad's case the right trainer he is like a totally different fighter now.
