    Ah, I see.

boxing fans put too much stock in early losses...losses in general, really.

Thats silly, as if he can't improve which he did immensely since then. Even after the Purrity loss he was still not fighting to suit his attributes look at how he was crouching down and trying to stalk a huge puncher like Sanders.

Anyone can get beat in there, one poorly timed movement by any ATG HW against yes Corrie Sanders and its nap time.

Conversely, you could just as well say having a sturdy chin & decent set of lungs doesn't make up for throwing arm punches & having generally poor technique & fluidity, in addition to a disturbing lack of raw hitting power for such a big man.

        Flip the coin, ya know?

As I said no point in debating fantasy fights that can never happen but the lack of respect for two very good fighters who take on everyone available regardless of what anyone thinks of those competitors is evident in this section.

Yes they take on everyone. No, its not their fault their comp sucks. Should that be simply overlooked?

I don't think the fact Wlad has early loss's should change the fact he's an ATG heavyweight. Wlad is an ATG IMO.

After those early loss's he has been dominant and although a weak division he has dominated.

His brother on the other hand, I can't say the same for.

Not all traits are of equal import. Having a weak chin is about as big a negative as you can get in boxing. And yes, conversly having a good chin and stamina will come a lot closer than making up for crude technique than technique making up for a lack of chin and stamina. Ask Marciano.

That's really lowering the bar for ATG status. Hell, why don't we just let every in?

Dominating a weak division is meaningless. It's not simply winning it's who you win against.....and who you lose to. There's a damn good reason why Boise State posts a ton of dominating wins every year but has no shot at a national title: They run those scores up on a Little Sisters Of The Poor conference. Quality of opposition matters.

Wlad. Better opponents and the better and greater boxer.

And too many nuthuggers like to excuse losses. They exist and they matter just as much as wins do. And it matters who you besat and who you lose to. There's a big difference between losing to Lennox Lewis and losing to detritus like Purrity, Sanders, and Brewster. Especially when said fighter lacks any quality wins to offset those losses (quality win = quality opponent, and Wlad hasn't fought any).
