This is why I still think Wlad is great and should be considered as an ATG. Yes there are fighters that rate above him but he is still one of the best heavyweights in history. His domination speaks for itself. I hate debating this topic because you get extremes from both sides with people overrating Wlad and unfairly underrating him.

thats usually is the case for almost all current day fighters.

once their careers have finished up and everyone is brought back to earth by them not being active, people will get a little more objective about rating them, and theyll find their place.

I prefer to look at who the fighters beat, and how good they were on their best nights rather than their worst.

Liston lost a decision to Marty Marshall while fighting with a broken jaw. There's a big difference between that and getting KTFO by tomato cans the way Wlad did. And why bring up fighters from the 1910s who fought once a month or more just to buy food? When you fight that often the odds catch up to you. What's Wlad's excuse? The dude's been fighting 2-3 times a year for damn near his whole career and never stepped into a ring while not having eaten in 4 days.

It's been shown time after time throughout the history of boxing that when you stick a one-punch KO artist with a glass-jaw in against a powder-puff puncher with a granite chin the guy with the great chin wins the vast majority of time. LaMotta - Satterfield and Cobb - Shavers are just the two best examples.

Bottom-line: You have NOTHING intelligent to add to any discussion on boxing.

Wladimir fought 9 times in 1998(the year he lost to Purrity).
Jack Johnson fought only once in 1899 when he got KOed by Klon***e.
Harry Wills fought 6 times in 1912 when he got KOed by George Cotton.

plenty of ATGs have lost early in their careers. If you dont think much of Wladimir because of his competition, fine. but to say an early loss in your career automatically disqualifies you from being a great fighter regardless of what you accomplished after is just plain ******.

grow up. the second someone disagrees with you, you turn into a little girl.

not to mention you quoted a single sentence and took it out of context. if you actually try reading, my point was that although a non-world class fighter can physically have a better chin than a world class one, the top level guy can often take punches better because he knows how to take the punch and be less likely to be caught off guard by it(which is a key point in KO punches).

You sure about that? If you're naturally assuming both men will hit you at will (given you're a man on the street, & they're pro fighters) Wlad hits a hell of a lot harder than Vitali does.

I'm talking about as a boxer in the ring. Im well aware of the fact that they are both great boxers and Im not trying to be some tough guy saying I want to get in a street fight with them. Its theoretical and I think it has alot of merit when comparing fighters to think when you fight a guy (as if you where in a well matched fight) who you would rather fight in regards to who you think is a tougher dude to break. Some people seem to have a little more of that mean streak and I think I see that in Vitali more that Wlad. That is what separates them in my mind. I think they are both great at what they do but when the going get though I just think Vitali is the one to react better.

yeah that crossed my mind and thing about that fight was he was still using both his arms before it was stopped and would of won I think if he just stayed on his feet. I really dont know how bad it was and stuff like that but yea it is a good point. I still think hes got more of a killer instict though and I dont think its right to write him off on that because I really dont know what happened I wasnt there. Agents lennex he wanted to keep fighting and his face was pritty torn up. Wlad needs to get a good test so we can see how he reacts. Actually that both do. I hope it happens soon.

Having a poor punch resistance is a bummer but he makes up for it with his text book fighting style. Except the chin Wlad is superior to his brother in every department.

I would have to go with Vitali. I think he is willing to take more risks in the ring. Perhaps he knows he has a slighlty better chin. I also think he is 'more' imposing and quicker - both in hand speed and reflexes.
