George is the one overrated being picked to beat people like bowe fury ike and others when he never fought anybody as athletic and skilled as these man the man was slow easy to read lack of defense

    • This is a mismatch george was to slow sloopy and basic nobody beat bowe who was that way and bowe was the best inside hw fighter of all time george would be destroyed

      • Good thing Andrew Golota wasn't chosen for this tournament.

        • Bowe was garbage. Weird how the 90s era is so overhyped. I mean, is a top 5 of 1. Lewis, 2. Holyfield, 3. Old Foreman, 4. Douglas, 5. Golota, really that good? What would Douglas and Golota be in this era? Top 100? Maybe. Nash out

Bowe was solid at one point, but then became rich and forgot about training hard and not eating cake every day

              • This old tourney final is founded on the idea that although Bowe couldn't beat Lewis in the amateurs he is selected to beat him in the Pros? So. Yaaaa.

                • Bowe was an undisciplined cheap shot artist. Big fighter who knew how to use his size advantage. If not for the Holyfield trilogy and the publicity stunt dropping his belt in the trash to duck Lewis, no one is talking about him. Foreman would get the better of him and I would look for a late round stoppage. Lets not forget, Golota was working over Bowe and had he not resorted to low blows he could have easily won those fights. Hopefully no one is thinking Golota was better than Foreman.

                    Brilliant. Well said.
Look, Rid**** Bowe was an exceptionally good heavyweight and his trilogy with Holyfield was classic. But that will have to do. In truth, over the course of the post-Ali span of time , so to speak, there were a fair number of heavyweights who did more and fought better. The 72-77 George Foreman was simply in a higher class.
