***** & Poet have already raised the objections to this post I would have. The situation between Calzaghe & Jones is comparable to Marciano & Louis, in the context of the discussion. In this instance, age is of secondary concern.

Marciano was in his prime when he battled Louis, & Calzaghe, close (not absolute peak, but not far from it) to his when he challenged Jones. Louis & Jones were each shot-to-bits (probably fair to call Jones in a worse state, since Louis had at least beaten one excellent fighter in recent times when Marciano retired him).

Roy Jones is H2H the best at any weight from 160-175. Roy Jones would be a 5/1 favorite or worse against any other fighter.

Bull**** and you're on ignore as a nuthugging troll. Back to NSB with you if you can't have an intelligent discussion about boxing. We don't need fan-bois who think with their d1cks polluting this section.

Roy Jones would get KO'd within 3 rounds by any great fighter from 160-175.

It's the easiest thing in the world to make a bold statement knowing it's completely unprovable.

Do you realize that the Marqess of Queensberry rules have been in effect since 1860? If a boxers prime is about 10 years then there has been 15 boxers who could have had more talent then Jones at his weight. If you were to role a 15 sided dice would you assume that it would land on your favorite number more often?

My criteria for Prime is simply different than yours, I choose to go by the laws of nature that apply to every human being, not just boxers. Males begin to rapidly lose testosterone once they near 30. This is unescapable.

If you were to plot the performance of athletes from different sports like boxing, baseball, basketball, hockey and football, theyd probably all produce similar curves, and itd be hard to distinguish between the sports.

I understand there are other things at work in boxing, but age/physical prime is still the over-riding factor. To compare Roy/Zagz to a 37 year old fighting a 28 year old is absurd.
