You're right, I shouldn't dismiss Joe so easily. I just feel the era he was in wasn't very strong and also behind in the times. Fighters now days know more and train differently. I think if Louis was around now, he would have been much better. I like to compare Louis to guys from Marciano and earlier. I think Louis was the best of that lot by far.

I used to believe some of the same things you do. But in the last few years my beliefs in athletes further back in history have changed.

One thing people should keep in mind is athletes such as Louis or Tyson and other greats is that they are very rare. They have rare genetics along with rare circumstances that allow them to be great boxers.

Taking that into account you should be able to realize that through the passage of over 100 years there have been boxers as good or better then boxers from the late 80s on. Think about it 150 years of boxing, do you really think that the best boxers have all been born in the last 30 years? 30 years is only 1/5th of 150 years.

Boxers not afraid of each other? Ridiculous! Look at how many guys duck the power hitters! Some of those guys like Tua can litterally main/kill a man with a single shot, so hell yes, they are afraid of each other. Look at Bowe talking to Lewis, he was horrified of Lewis. Look at how many fighters got into the ring and just froze against Tyson before the fight even started, or how many guys ran scared against Liston >.< Might want to delete that post eh? Boxing is to dangerous a sport to NOT be afraid.

Yeah no crap man! The only one that had the power to do it was Abe(KO Walcott and what not), but besides having a cast iron jaw and decent stamina, Abe was pretty worthless in a boxing ring by any standards. Tyson would use him as a 300lbs heavy bag :/ Would actually be a physically dangerous matchup for all of the uppercuts he would eat. Carnera was a good fighter though...No chance against any ATG though.

A few years ago I would have said the same thing. Then later on I thought it might be a even fight. But after watching more of Joe Louis I think he knocks out Tyson.

It's not necessarily disturbing to reply to a ghost, it might be an opportunity to get out an opinion you want to discuss currently . . . What's disturbing is that you would reply to a ghost just to call him names.
