Wow, I don't even know what to say to that one.

That is like a music lover who never heard of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

No offense but the ensuing question would have to be do you really like boxing?
I am not in the habit of seriously replying to nonsense. I was honest with you and your response was to take a free shot. Frankly in this case my ignorance may have revealed more about your character than mine.

I came in here with the intention of talking about Lopez' (Lack of) inside game but you said it already.
There are very few Mexican world class fighters with no inside game. (sparring in Mexico you develop a inside game or get beat out of the gym)

He was tall for the weight class and most of his opponents were shorter so where is the logic of fighting inside if you can control the range?

And the Alvarez fights were at the end of his 51 fight career, and I am sure we all know (well at least most who post in this section) that the lower weight fighters don't age well.

      No?

        It was a joke, relax.

And my ignorance is well documented, so no problem there

I think Thomas Hearns deserves some consideration here. He took advantage of his height had an excellent jab followed by that thunderous right. He also punched to the body with both the jab and left hook.

I gotta say floyd mayweather,, everything he does is fantastic,,

            his jab
            working of the jab
            footwork
            cutting off the ring
            walking a guy down
            fighting off the ropes
            lead right
            counter right
            counter hook
            body shots
            combination punching
            keeping chin tucked
            in the pocket
            head movement
            distance and spacing
            ring IQ
            stamina
            etc

I cant find a single thing that floyd doesnt do extremely well

He's the best fighter I've ever seen south of Bantamweight. I don't usually follow the really small fighters but Lopez got my attention.

There are probably more guys as well that I know nothing of, especially in the lower weight classes.... primarily because if a guy weighs less than my wife @135 pounds It doesn't catch my interest...But on a broader level, today its so easy for someone to "Google" something and pretend to know something....I don't roll that way, if I don't know it I will say so...then if it interests me I will learn about it.

The funny thing is two of the three smartest people I ever met in my life where high school drop outs.

Some great answers here. As many have said Ricardo Lopez is the obvious answer, as well as JMM. Really great to see people mention Harold Johnson and Donald Curry.

                      Other examples has to be:
                      Joe Louis
                      Alexis Arguello
                      Salvador Sanchez
                      Eder Jofre
                      Carlos Zarate
                      Marvin Hagler
                      Alberto Davila
                      Orlando Canizales
                      Yuri Arbachakov
