Agreed, Hopkins is old enough, he probably wrote the textbook hahaha But he knows every trick in the book to make you look bad not to mention he had a solid defense that hardly ever seen him in trouble, not to mention his slick right hand.

      Finito, orthodox but perfect.

I've gotta agree with those saying Hopkins. Watched him dismantle Pavlik again last night and he has some serious skills. I don't know if he's the best ever but he's ****ing good. Arguello was a good orthodox fighter, too, but I think saying Hearns was pure textbook is reaching a bit. He had a really awkward jab, which is what helped it slip so well through guards.

            Vernon Forrest.

He did everything by the book. He did not have any specials skills i.e Speed,Power or Footwork.

He got the most out of his basic jab right hand boxing style, until he ran into Ricardo Mayorga. Ricardo Mayorga's style can't be found in no text book thats why Vernon could not beat him.

But anyway my choice is Vernon Forrest.

Wladimir Klitschko follows the same rules and style to the death.

A properly trained heavyweight talent who can improvise on the fly would be a nightmare for today's division.

Willie Pep is the greatest pure boxer! In & out and laterial movement while throwing text book shots and shots from all angles too! Benny Leonard is certainly high on the list!
Sugar Ray Robinson when he wanted to be offensive & defense minded and more cautious.
Joe Louis was certainly text book on offense, his form and technique remains the best of the heavyweights!

                      First response was Harold Johnson.

Brought a tear to my eye.
