According to The Argus (Melbourne) on August 15, 1910, there was a scheduled contest in San Francisco between “A. Kaufmann and Sam. Langford” that was subsequently cancelled. The cancellation was reportedly because Langford demanded $7,500 to enter the ring, a fee deemed excessive at the time.
