Yes he told Klompton he had a "friend "who had film of Greb in an actual fight,but that he was sworn to secrecy not to give details about it.That's when Klompton called him ," a bare faced liar."

His story went . . . During the fight Johnson's wife was in conclave with representatives of the federal government. Once a deal has been struck she returned to her seat in the 25th round and singled JJ it was done, so he could then throw the fight.

Yes, Johnson carried Willard for 25 rounds while his wife negotiated.

He needed an argument to get around the fact that the fight went 26 rounds and so he conjured up that story. And wouldn't let it go.

Of course the entire thing falls apart when you realize Johnson doesn't return to the U.S. until 1920, five years after the fight and still had to serve one year in prison for the Mann conviction anyway.

It is amazing what people can talk themselves into believing.
