As mentioned, Sonny lucked into a weak era and still couldn't dominate though he beats all of Floyd's title defenses. I like Sonny who made something of himself, but he was cursed with the sins of a terrible father and lucky to have been a momma's boy in a weak era.
What a wonderful analysis, because Ali and Liston fought so much alike.

You never tire of looking like a fool, do you?

To read some of the posts you would think Sonny would get KO'd in three by Shirley Temple and I wonder if some are trolling

On Rainydayboxing's Youtube site he has created an absolutely magnificent documentary on Liston.

I have seen it about 25 times

'Song for Sonny Liston' by the great Mark Knopfler is superb as well.

      The lyrics are pure genius.
Sonny is one of the best ever. An absolutely wonderful fighter!

On a side topic I have tried to post my pic time and time again. My PM's don't work either.

Then again nothing ever goes right electronically for me.

I would be quite happy in the age of parchment and quill.

Sonny was an ATG as an older era fighter, and his real age when he took a dive vs Ali was around 63. Had he started his career 40 years earlier and retired at real age 58, he would have been the best ever, even compared to modern, Next-Gen men, such as Jake Paul, the Face of Boxing today. Forensic Details & Needle Marks:

                1. Needle Marks – The autopsy report noted fresh needle marks on Liston's arm. This was significant because Liston was not known to be a drug user, and those close to him claimed he had a fear of needles.

                2. Morphine & Codeine in His System – Toxicology tests found morphine and codeine in his blood, suggesting heroin use. However, no paraphernalia like a syringe or spoon was found at the scene.

                3. Position of the Body – He was found slumped over, with a broken footstool nearby and an open bottle of vodka, adding to speculation that the scene may have been staged.

                4. Unclear Cause of Death – The coroner ultimately ruled it natural causes but acknowledged that heroin overdose couldn't be ruled out, particularly given the lack of clear evidence of self-adminstration.

His claim to fame is being Clay`s stepping stone to the belt.

If he is ATG, than Usyk is the best heavyweight ever.

This antient fighters are often overrated for some crazy reasons.

Much as I love Joe you are right.

Futch kept Frazier well away from an ancient Liston for good reason.
