To be fair. Boots should win. Boots has the potential talent and skills to wash Stanionis. To also be fair they both haven't fought nobody lol. This is step up for both. The only difference is if Boots loses. He will be on this list the next day lol.

Considering he is being touted as the "next big thing" in boxing, id say that is a fair assessment.

Joe Bugner could have been truly great had he been more agressive and not so very safety first.

Can I ask you guys why no one has mentioned Tommy Morrison?
Poor guy had explosive power and cause of his blonde american boy popularity was given great opportunities. But he loved partying and after mercier beat him senseless he later died of AIDs.
Surely he deserves to be included here? No?

I was considering to put him on the list but Tommy never got out of the shadow of "Great White Hope". Now that isn't his fault and it's an American thing to always over promote and over market white fighters with great power. Did anyone within the real boxing core fans really believe the Tommy hype train ? No. I highly doubt that.

I dont want to speak for everybody but anybody can chime in.

I dont believe Tommy had a high ceiling for talent or career with or without his lifestyle. I think he had a good marketing team and matchmaker. They thought Mercer was going to get steamrolled by Tommy since Mercer was hot and cold. Mercer is on this list.

Now that we are on the topic of Great White Hope post the 80s. ( Americans only) Kelly Pavlik probably was the best and had potential to be an All time Great. Yes I know Vinny and Gatti are in the hall of fame but they are in that club not for their skills lol.

Who would win. Plant or Pavilk ?

Tommy looked awesome against Mercer in the first few rounds, those lightening fast power combinations.

It's a real shame his lifestyle ruined him.

I'll never get tired of mentioning Andrew Golota in this kind of "wasted potential" debates.

The night he fought a prime Riddick Bowe, Golota was just destroying him. At that moment, he had the world in his hands, just before having Bowe's balls in the same hands a minute later.

From then on, almost everything went bad. Golota had the skill of a great fighter, but didn't own a functioning brain. Then again, I believe he was psychologically impacted by the bad press he received for his bizarre behavior on that ring.

Andrew Golota is a great pick for this list. He had power and decent skills for his size. Mentally he just wasn't there. I dont think anyone thought he would be the next big thing or a future hall of famer during his reign/ peak in the 90s.

It would be interesting to see how things would had been had he actually won some of those big fights in the 90s.
