    A recommended reading list of Joyce would be fantastically abbreviated, yet no fan of language can do without his best moments, as in the following poem or the short story Counterparts.

    * * * * * *

    I hear an army charging upon the land,
    And the thunder of horses plunging, foam about their knees:
    Arrogant, in black armour, behind them stand,
    Disdaining the reins, with fluttering whips, the charioteers.

    They cry unto the night their battle-name:
    I moan in sleep when I hear afar their whirling laughter.
    They cleave the gloom of dreams, a blinding flame,
    Clanging, clanging upon the heart as upon an anvil.

    They come shaking in triumph their long, green hair:
    They come out of the sea and run shouting by the shore.
    My heart, have you no wisdom thus to despair?
    My love, my love, my love, why have you left me alone?

    * * * * *

    Who else has ever said "fluttering whips," if anyone? Sounds like creativity, original. Jimmy would never use a cliche unless it served a literary purpose.

        Can we put this thread to bed now? It's been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt what the OP was trying to do with Johnson's recored, and he's failed miserably. I will say a lot of other good stuff came out of this thread though.

        If I wanted to bury Jack, his record is enough. He fought easy marks as champion and was knocked out by one of the worst title holders of all time at heavyweight.

        On his rise he had numerous losses and draws. What is hilarious is some of you arguing with AI which has 1,000 sources.

        Hey--- it's a free country so....

          Back from your most recent ban to rehash something that was posted nearly two weeks ago? I'm not getting into it. Just remember though, Bronson took your AI to school.

          And you still haven't provided a link to anything. You keep saying AI, like that going to win you a prize. It's not. Your AI is broken apparently, no prizes for you.

            The onus is on those who disagree to prove it, not I.

                I can't grasp "what" he wants disproved, forget for now, about even trying.

                One can disprove something if it is 'empirical' in nature, but if it's logical, e.g. theory, opinion, judgement, etc. One can not.

                "Last night it didn't snow in Miami, I know, I went out my front door this morning."

                But as I said I have no clue what he even wants disproven.

                More importantly, how come one guy is back and the other guy isn't? See, now that some interesting gossip

                • I was looking at Jack Twin Sullivans record and thought of this thread as his amount of draws was incredible.

                      Good to see you back Z...what did they ban you for this time? I was looking for your Heavyweights thread but it got deleted and when I clicked on your profile it said 'banned'...
