"The hardest hitter l ever met was
Barbados Joe Walcott(not to be mixed up with Jersey Joe Walcott) . The fastest was Danny Duane. The greatest left hooker was Sam McVey.
The most aggressive was that wildcat they called Stanley Ketchel. The best boxer was Jack Johnson. The gamest was Joe Jennette. The most fearless was Jim Barry. And the greatest all-around fighter, when you reckened brains and boxing, coolness and speed, agility to take it and power to give, was Joe Gans."

Gans was alleged to have developed the concept of hitting favored and co-developed by Dempsey. It was said in his training when he was sparring you would hear his foot loudly stepping forwards as he punched, his weight being slung forwards as he delivered the shots.

Is that common to the martial art strikes?

In styles that extend the punch yes... Hsing Yi, ( a mother system of linear Chinese Boxing) DakenJutsu (older Japanese style of hitting), are two examples.

              Great and rare gem.

For the category of hitting power Sam must have gone into P4P mode before it even existed, unless one is to think welterweight Walcott literally punched harder than Jack Johnson and all the others.

If you look up Langford and Louis youll see a photo of them. Langford is very short thats why he was able to scale to lighter weights. But hes wide as a truck and big framed. He was also known to be very slippery

Like Barbados Joe, the original Walcott, built like a pitbull, for all the way from lightweight to heavy!
