Billed World & American 170lbs Titles
Hart retired after round 12, claiming a broken hand. The Louisville Courier-Journal reported that Gardner was ahead at the time of the stoppage.

Wrong! Root's manager invented the Light heavyweight title and matched his man against Kid McCoy for the newly created title .
NB It's GARDNER not GARDENER.
