That in a 24 year, 62 bout career, Frans Botha never, ever beat a ranked (top15) Heavyweight?
Not even one.
A few Draws, Briggs, Etienne, An overturned NC, Schultz. Beat a couple decent pros, Pannell, Guy, Bostice; but nobody beaten from the top 15, ever.
A split nod over Timo Hoffmann was the closest he got.
After he was all used up, he did manage kickboxing wins over 2 of the 5 best ever, Aerts & LeBanner, aided by injuries, and one over Thai great Kaoklai Kaennorsing, during his post boxing K-1 foray.
What makes this unusual is that his promotion kept him semi-relivent dispite this absence of quality wins for almost 17 years!!
He served as Joseph Parker's 5th win victim.
Just an oddity.

Even past his prime, especially under Richie Giachetti, Tyson was still able to show glimpses of excellence. The Stewart fight was one of them.
Another one was the Bite Fight, until the bite...Last edited by Tatabanya; 05-03-2024, 11:12 PM.

But yeah, for sure, Tyson was physically peaked in Ruddock 1 and 2 IMO. His loss to Douglas simply has to do with him draining his energy all night the ****ing a bunch of fangirls which takes the energy out of anyone (reddit incel ****** mike tyson haters wouldn’t be able to understand though).

Tysons career can be divided into this:
85-86- Green , getting experienced
88-88, boxing peak skillswise and mentally and physically. Threw to the body
89-91: inconsistent, physical peak during ruddock fights. eroded skills but still threw to the body
95-97: Still a dangerous fighter, far pst his best and was a headhunter but still displayed skills and power, esp against bruno and early on vs holyfield. Mentally shot but physically a threat.
99-05: Completely shot

Speaking for myself: having lived through the Tyson era, and having studied the subject on innumerable books (including his own Undisputed Truth, which is a must-read), I think I have managed to graduate from "fanboy" to "unbiased expert" by now.

For me, Tyson was definitively shot only against McBride, in his very last fight. In fact it was then and there that he uttered the famous words, "it's not in my guts anymore".
