Still beating the BS Havana heat wabe thing to death. That is a factoid that will live forever.

The tempature was 68-74 (Havana Newspaper weather report) with a high humidity. It rained the day before and it wasn't until the afternoon that the clouds finally receded and the fight was on.

It was certainly muggy but no way does a 74 'high for the day' ever translate into "the sun beating down on the ring." Just plain silly.

      Pure factoid Nonsense!

The tempature went up a degree everytime Johnson lied about the fight.

For God sake, look at the pre-fight photo of the fighters, they're bundled up to keep off the chill.

Then look at the pre-fight photo of Dempsey-Willard and compare.

It was indeed 100 degrees in Toledo ohio four yrars later.

      Use some common sense.

Disagree. That newspaper article was eye witness testimony. If you have full sun and you are fighting early to mid afternoon under that sun the reflective heat and light from the white/off white ring canvas will be extremely oppressive.

I don’t understand what is so hard to believe.

“Exposure to full sunshine can increase heat index values by up to 15°F”

”This is why temperature is measured in the shade”

YES Johnson was lucky to draw vs Battling Jim Johnson! He was on the verge of being KO'D in the 10th and final round. Not one judge just picked Jack Johnson as the winner but one Judge picked Battling Jim. Do you read what Pollack writes or only take in the positive and reject the negative? You are a dishonest person by ignoring such details.

Jeannette was 0-3 when he first fought Johnson! He had no amateur experience either!

              McVey was an in-expercnced teenager.

Langford's estimated age was 20 by author Clay Moyle, and he is listed at 156 pounds! Sam says he was in the 140's and Jeanette says he was in the 160's! Other readers can verify this! Johnson has three famous wins, right?

We did talk about the Marvin Hart fight where Pollack thinks he lost! And he did.

You're a piece of ****, a freemason, a bet welcher, a person who likes to blow rabbits heads off ( you admitted as such in the ESB forum ), and a liar. I care not what you " think "

Johnson was.178lbs on the 26th on February1903 when he fought Sam McVey

You inserted the word beaten,my original statement said the average weight in title defences
                      .

The average weight of Jack Johnson's title challengers is 202.4lbs

                      O Brien 162.5lbs
                      Ross 214lbs
                      Kaufman 191lbs
                      Ketchel 170.25lbs
                      Jeffries 227lbs
                      Flynn193lbs
                      Johnson 222.75lbs
                      Moran 203lbs
                      Willard 238.5lbs
Total 1822 lbs Divide by 9
                      Equal 202.4lbs
No arguments, no spin ,no altering my statement ,no BS, that's the average!

Joe Louis' average is 203lbs,just over half a pound more.

                      Total weight of Louis' challengers
                      Equal 5085.5lbs
                      Divided by 25
                      Equals 203 lbs

                      * If 190lbs Johnny Davis was included as a bona fide title challenger the total would be 5275.5lbs
                      Divided by 26.
Which would then give us an average of 202lbs just under a half a pound less than Johnsons!

I certainly would not include it as defence, but I have absolutely no doubt that if our positions were reversed you would! lol

As a side note for Them Apples. Marciano's weight for title challengers is a perfectly respectable average of 192lbs .
