I don't even drink anymore, maybe an occasional glass of wine (interacts with too many of my meds; getting old sucks). Queenie, though, I imagine is some old dude that dropped too much acid with Charlie Manson back in the day and now huffs meth in a trailer park somewhere in Bumfuck Egypt while waiting for the reaper to come collect.

I wonder if Manson ever did acid. No doubt he used it to indoctrinate the girls but as much a control freak as he was he probably never indulged lest he lose control over the girls. I'd bet he was an alcoholic.

I think that's a problem many fighters face. Training for a professional bout correctly has to be hell on Earth. If a fighter isn't truly frightened he might lose his dedication must slide some, even if only a little. It's just human nature.

Yeah I agree. I think that what may happen, like the steve cunningham fight, fury will wear down usyk and take all his heart. He will be too strong in clinches and the smaller guy will just feel so broken and tired and then be knocked out or lose on points. Fury is good at breaking a man down as we have seen.
But I think that no heavyweight can be taken easy as these guys are elite. You cannot mess about. Rocky Marciano used to work so hard sparring and preparing and even today we discuss how good rocky was. If he had laid off in preparations I don't think we'd be discussing him today. He was ready for the biggest nights and fury should do the same. In the training section we were discussing about how important sleep and food are and how without it we will feel awful.

I realise I upset my girl most of it was my misunderstanding as my mind has been so substandard. I watched ronnie O'Sullivan saying how improved diet changed his life for the better and I thought I need to do something about how lousy my mind is. I really had no clue about what was going on. So I researced diet and it has

I think discipline and hard work make a man happy. I think the payoff is the reward for our extra bit of work. At the elite level this phrase has never being truer "fail to prepare and prepare to fail."

Re: Marciano's preparation: I am about to make-up the time table but it went something like this.

Three month before the fight no more visitors to the camp, no family.

Two months before the fight no more phone calls home, only written letters from the family.

One month before the fight, no contact.

Later on when Rocky began to train for a possible come-back against Johansson he said he quit because he just couldn't bare the thought of 'all that isolation again.'

P.S. Of course reporters were let in, but they were part of the mental preparation not a distraction from it. The fight was everything, the only thing.

I have noticed something over the years that many ultra fit athletes die young from conditions like cancer and i don't know the stats. I was noticing that while exercise and fitness make us enjoy life more and feel better on a daily basis, some people take it too far and feel they can be even fitter and fitter and this error
