I partially agree with everything anyone said. Who did he fight and how good were they when he fought them, is still the bottom line. People were saying he wasn't fighting anyone dangerous while he was still reigning, and he must have heard, but the protests were drowned out by starved British adulation.
Though resentful, I admired several things about him. He was always ready and he came in with a tough attitude. That tough head was not particularly evident because of his style, but he did have a tough man's headspace.
But the bottom line is still the bottom line. A class fighters destroy B class fighters like they are kids. Calzaghe (Bill, just remember zag he, cal is easy) could almost surely have given a good account of himself among top competition. But alas, ATG status is awarded for what a man did do, not what he almost surely could have done.
