If someone says Marchegiano(Marciano) again I will throw-up. I take my hat off to his record, but I have dissected his record. He fought 12 fighters who were win-less as pros. At 33-0 he fought Harold Willis(0-10-2). At 35-0, Rocco fought Red Applegate(11-16-2). Applegate went the distance, never the less some thinks that Rocco would beat these big modern heavy-weight champions. He gave a title shot to Don ****ell, who was an overweight Light Heavy-weight way past his prime. ****ell in his prime as a light-heavy was knocked out by middleweights Randy Turpin and Sugar Ray Robinson. For the love of boxing, how did this guy get a title shot? Somebody please help me(a professor I knew would always say that)! Tiger Ted Lowry went the distance with Rocco twice and was robbed of the decision. Who was Ted Lowry? Lowry was a fleet-footed defensive boxer and a man of color who had fought over 100 bouts. Lowry had lost his last six fights and they thought he was washed up. Bad mis-calculation I must say! Guys, the info is out there, read it. If anyone thinks that a slow, easy to hit, short armed brawler at 5'10" -185 lbs could beat champions like Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Holmes, Lewis, Klitscho, Tyson and etc. you are absolutely nuts! George Chuvalo an absolute stud, never off his feet as a pro, but he couldn't beat those Hall of Famers! Chuvalo could punch like a mule. Foreman was hitting him with surface to air missiles and he would not go down. Chuvalo, big respect to you brother, you were a lion, R.I.P.! Ernie Shavers could punch let a mule, but couldn't beat Ali and Holmes. He hit them both with shots that would have knocked out most fighters. Archie Moore(RIP) at 41 years old and 173 lbs knocked Rocco down. If the Mongoose at that age and size could knock you down, those big hitters that I've mentioned would rewire and disconnect your signal control box! That means lights out with the circuit-breaker activated. Someone said Marciano would beat Klitscho(also an olympic champion) who at 6'6" -250 lbs is a freaking giant. Look at the picture of Marciano standing beside Ali and was dwarfed. Don't disrespect these Olympic champions. Marciano had 14 amateur fights, which are in question. He fought as a pro in at least one fight and then returned to fight 12 times as an amateur losing two fights. For the life of me, I thought that once you turn pro, you could never again be an amateur in that sport. Hell, Wilder should reclassify as an amateur and win one of those olympic gold medals. Now that would command respect!

Of course, I agree with the gist of this (it's hard not to!), but a couple of things you got factually wrong:

      Robinson never fought ****ell.
Moore was 188 and not 173, when he knocked down Marciano.

... also I think it's wrong to use R.I.P. about someone, who's still with us!

And Chuvalo could not punch like a mule. He was a hard arm puncher and that's about it.

                  I go with Robinson.

He's got the resume & passes the eye test with his speed, quickness, power in both hands, perfect size for his weight classes

Plus, dude started his career 125-1, fighting tons of hall of famers around the way.

Nobody had his number, he just got old

Pep was PWNED by Saddler multiple times.

Yea but Pep's 15 round UD in the rematch is one of the all time great performances by a fighter.

Pep had one great fight left in him.
