Lol. It is worth noting that there are kind of two very different groups that emerge with Track and Field stuff... Within most individuals, to be in the range of someone who can compete is exceptional... However, within the actual group of competitors, the differences are measured in milliseconds! or other very small increments.
The most impressive, evolved modern heavyweight might be James Jeffries!

why do athletes take peds? well, if you look at the fame and rewards they can get as a champion compared to nobody otherwise the temptation is too much of a draw.
i was told years ago and have heard it since that in the inside of sport trainers and coaches all accept ped use and the boys and girls are talked to explaining if they want success and glory they must use them as everyone else is using and the bar has been raised beyond natural abilities of clean athletes. at least in the old days boxers didn't use peds as they didn't really exist. so we can appreciate their achievements all the more.Comment

In the bareknuckle days they washed their mouths out with rot gut whiskey, poured ice water on their heads, and stuff some chemical up their nose, (if they has any connection to the budding chemical industry that was emerging.) God knows what chemicals they used. But winner take all fights could make cheating with peds look pedestrian.
They could pull an unconscious fighter off the pitch and in 30 seconds where ready shove him back up to scratch. Then he took a knee!
Kilraine (Sullivan fight) took 12 knees in a row earning himself six plus minutes of rest before he began fighting again.
Conjecture suggests Kilraine was knocked unconscience twice, maybe three separate times in the fight. Good day to die.
Ped guys just und up with little balls.

When was he in the P4P rankings? He was a solid fighter, but got beat easily by Dawson and barely got past Cunningham twice. In fact, many people felt Cunningham should gotten the nod in the rematch.Comment

Yeah lol, "alleged" and obviously embellished. But I do think there is some wheat with that chafe, the sprinting and jumping. What I find remarkable about him are those attributes... To have sprinter speed, and track and field prowess, and when you see how he was built... Football science took many moons to develop training and supplementation that allowed a big guy to move fast, on average, for positions where you used to put big and slow lol... Jeffries was a natural... No wasted muscle mass, I actually think for boxing specifically Liston was perhaps one better, but Sonny was probably not the athlete Jeffries was... Assuming the track and field attributes were true.
Jeffries v Joshua
6ft Height 6 ft 6 in
45 Chest 47
16 Biceps 17
18 Neck 18
26 Thigh 27
17 Calf 16 1/2
75 Reach 82
10 Ankle 9 1/2Comment

His chest measurements are greater too.
He is similar sized to a super heavyweight on many parts of the tale of the tape. Now box rec lists his reach correctly as does wiki ( a better source edited by historians ) and the rest of his fights in the new papers.

At least you stopped trying comparing him physically to Adamek.Jeffries' first size was close to Liston's at 13.5" with is again way bigger than average.

Note: apparently Liston actually had "84" reach. Still: 82 is a big wing span. When I read this I had thought Liston was less than Joshua on the reach lol, had to look it up.Comment

P4P if you followed boxing then, but top 5 at best. He was undefeated for a long time at heavy until Vitali.Comment
