He didn't seem to do too bad.52- 5 -2, with 2 of those defeats when he was well past prime.

Nineteen fight Ibeabuchi demolished Byrd ,why wouldn't the bigger, cleverer boxer Lewis do the same?

I do not know. Lewis did not fight Ibeabuchi and ducked Chris Byrd... he dropped a belt to avoid him.

Doc, not helping your case with hyperbolic guesswork about ducking. I'm by no means your judge, by you have done some really good stuff here and other boards, and this?....

Well anyway, the recent articles on Byrd, who was, as correctly insinuated, was one of the pack leaders of his time, is now a conditioning fanatic who weighs just 168! Forget Lennox Lewis. I wonder how Byrd might have done against the similar sized modern era earlies such as Philadelphia Jack O'Brian and Joe Choynski???

Holyfield V Byrd for the IBF title Lewis had vacated drew; 8,543 through the live gate

            Holyfield got $5 million
Byrd got $ 2. 15 million his biggest purse ever.

.Lewis was on a guarantee of $ 7 million to fight Vitali.
The fight drew 16000 for the live gate
If you were Lewis which fight would you take? LOL

How many Southpaws does it take to screw a lightbulb in? Depends on whether they have boxing gloves on... How many heavyweight champs who are Southpaw does it take to screw a light bulb in? Just one, thank Goodness it does not take 7!

The feared Byrd man of Alcatratz? that human granite sculpture, 300 pounds of muscle, with a scowl that melts kid's ice cream? That Byrd man?

You cannot honestly believe that Lewis... a man who probably ducked less opponents at heavy than any other heavy weight in history. I mean, If it isn't him, he is in the running. Yet you are saying he ducked Byrd? I mean... not Vitalie, not Grant who at the time was considered extraordinary, not Ruddock, not Golota, none of the young lions... But Byrd? Seriously? lewis was knocked senseless against two opponents and only wanted a chance to get back in the ring... Vlad was beaten up by Sanders and wouldn't face him again... get some perspective Queens Bee!

Uh, he isn't getting any sense. I bet you've tried for a long time. He is still a good boy though.

LOL, Vitali threatened to sue Lewis who signed a contact to meet him! That's why the fight happened the way it did. Vitali took the fight on 2 weeks notice.

Lewis was offered 17+ million for the re-match. He said publicly he give it, but..

Okay, but Byrd fought and was around 210 pounds at the time. Lewis decided to drop a belt to him rater rather than face him. Call it want you wish.

Would Lewis be Ko'd by and have to settle for a news draw by a 168 pounder? Please stop, I do not want to make this thread about Jack Johnson.
