    Moorer 92 -98,
    Byrd 98,2000,2001,2002, 2003.
    Sanders 2003.
Is there any evidence that Moorer wanted or pursued a fight with Lewis? Is there any evidence that Lewis avoided him?

Byrd was ranked no6 at the end of 98 Lewis fought the no5 ranked Briggs.

Bryd was ranked no 10 in 2000.Lewis fought the no5 ranked Tua,and the no 2 ranked Grant.

Byrd was ranked no 3 in 2001 Champion Lewis defended against Rahman no4 who ko'd him. He then kod champion Rahman in the rematch.
Byrd was ranked no2 in 2002 Lewis defended against no 9 Tyson.

Byrd was ranked no 2 in 2003 Lewis was to have defended against no 8 Johnson,Johnson fell out and Lewis defended against no 7 ranked Vitali. Then retired
Louis had beaten 5 of the current top ten when he called it a day.
How many of the current top ten has Fury beaten?
How many top ten ranked opponents did he beat?
    Ditto Wilder
    Ditto Joshua.
Lewis is known for re matching and defeating the only 2 men to have beaten him .

More relevant questions might have been why didn't Vitali rematch Byrd?

    Why didn't Wlad rematch Sanders?
So the only years that can be questioned are 2002 and 2003. Otherwise he's fighting a higher ranked fighter.

2002 is a no brainer. It made sense to fight Tyson. No one else brings Lewis that payday.

So that leaves 2003. Lewis's choice of Johnson (8) is the only time you can even begin to argue maybe a duck. But eh! --- I think Wald is #1?

#7 Vitali filling in, makes sense, he was preparing for an under card fight and was ready to go.

Wald had problems with southpaws. He still beat Byrd 2 times. I think Lewis would have little trouble with Byrd or Sander.

Sanders could get lucky if Lennox came in smug and unprepared ,but I think it very unlikely.

Byrd would not give Lennox any problems imo, other than the match not being either fan friendly or very profitable,

That is true, but he got his best at the perfect age for him. Look at who he did not fight, that is what I'm saying.

You are wise my friend. I always like to listen to difference points of view. To pick out two fighters among the HOF he did fight is a bit of a reach. You left off Tua on your big puncher list.

The Doc went in with his guard low here. Ivich did what experience told him to do.
                  This rivalry is OVER.
