During his career as a HW he didn't fight Bowe Lewis Mercer Morrison or Tyson. So, I would say no. I want Jerry Quarry in the HOF because he did fight Ali Frazier Shavers Lyle Norton.

      Ill give it a try:
Arturo Gatti is in the HOF. I believe Stallone is also?

Moorer had great credability in the gym, very well respected by other fighters. He was also very technically accomplished at his best. I would put him on a top 15 for light heavies and his win over Holly was a master class in boxing.

After he beat Holyfield one of the wags from KO Magazine predicted Moorer would likely be HW Champion for the next five years. Couldn't envision Moorer losing to any of the top ten ranked fighters

Of course he didn't make it past his first defense.

But for a very short time he got that often 'very ****** moniker' that he was unbeatable!

I always love it when we think a guy is that guy --> Sullivan, Jeffries, Johnson, Dempsey, Louis, Liston, Clay, Forman, Tyson --> all at one time or another were thought unbeatable.

Not sure if that means anything but it always amuses me when we give out that label.

So at least according to KO, Moorer was on that list for a couple of months. Lol

All the lineal HWs should be acknowledged. It is the Hall of FAME.

The HW Title means enough alone that it is famous. That guy is always very important to boxing, no matter what else he might have achieved.

Then of course my theory runs face first into Hasim Rahman.

          Um! Maybe I'm wrong.

            Yes, I put him in.

But correct me if I'm wrong, he was only WBO Light Heavyweight Champion which wasn't recognized at the time.

It was, but Moorer was starching guys and was ranked by The Ring before 1988 was out.

He was never unbeatable. I remember when he fought Cooper, and Bert was keeping it close. Moorer had to get off the floor twice in a great slugfest.

Lol.....good points. I wouldn't personally have either of those guys and many others who are enshrined in there. But it's the hall of fame, not the hall of boxing accomplishments.

That was a great ****ing fight though. And Cooper had Holyfield down once or twice too IIRC.

I saw Moorer fight many times at Cobo, and then the Palace as a Light Heavy.

They were carrying guys out once the fight was over.

As a Light Heavy, Moorer could have been great.

He made some great cash as a Heavyweight doe.

He was scary at Light Heavy.................Rockin'
