Maybe to climb out of that rabbit hole, how do posters feel a fight in 1913 with Jeannette would go for Johnson?

      Over how many rounds?

I think if Johnson is in shape he takes it at any length, but around this time Johnson was also thinking about retiring. The fight he accepted with Jeannette was to be his final fight before retiring, and when it was pulled by the commission, he did retire for a short time. But he claimed he wanted to take the fight to show people he wasn't "all in," so he probably was preparing for a final big performance. It's a shame they didn't let the fight happen. It might have been Johnson's best performance.

I'd say 20 rounds for points. Joe was going really well 1913-15 and I think we lost a great and maybe defining fight.

Likely as Jeannette is way better than Jim battling Johnson or Frank Moran. By 1912 I think Johnson had peaked and was plenty suspect in 1909.

Shut up. The fight could have happened in France and other areas for sure. It did not happen because Johnson did not want it.

Shut up??? Make me...since we are apparently pretending to be 12 year old girls now.

Johnson agreed to the fight in New York. Are you denying this?

Oh, and by the way, did you cry when you read that your idol admit he could never have beaten Johnson. I remember you saying we wouldn't find a source for it, but when we did, you changed the goal posts. lol. Tell the truth. You're mad because your idol ducked Johnson and then got the shlt beat out of him by Johnson, aren't you? It was a long time ago. Try to let it go, yea?

When Jeffries stated he could never beat JJ he was in despair traveling back east with a train full of supporters.

Each supporter was taking their turn stating how Jeffries would have faired had the fight been years earlier. A newspaper reporter ambushed Jeffries about the jabber going on around him and, an angry Jeffries silenced the talk and reporter by stating he couldn't have won even then. The excuse making stopped.

Just a day or two later, when composed, he held a different view. There is no surprise there.

One has to ask, are spontaneous outbrusts at times of despair more or less likely to be held truths or are they reactions to the circumstances?

Then ask, are contemplated statements more or less likely to be true?

It seems Jeffries said both at one time or another.

Ambushed and angry? Where did you get that from? You were one of the posters who thought it wasn't said at all, if I remember correctly. Didn't you try to accuse me of doctoring this information? And never apologized after I proved it was legit.

How come you always go after the poster and not argue the topic.?

And why are you always a victim of injustice? Is there anyone on this forum (other than Sboulder) who, to your mind, doesn't owe you an apology?

Don't remember ever thinking you 'doctored' a source? Do remember you almost never properly cite your sources and that you cherry pick information, often offering quotes without time-place context. But don't think I ever accused you of doctoring a source, just creative distribution.

If I remember correctly the source you posted took place on the train, the day after the fight, No?

Could you post the article again? With citation.

It will help to clear my head, maybe I'm confused.

                    Oh! I am so sorry!

oh, here you are playing victim again.

It's a fact that you accused me of making up that quotation and you didn't apologize when I proved you wrong, did you?

And you are full of shlt. I clearly asked you where you are getting that he was ambushed and angry. So show us.

Find it yourself. I'm tired of you lazy bums not being able to back up what you say. So go find it and post it since you decided to jump into the convo. Your passive aggressive bullshlt isn't lost on me. You never change.
