When was the last time a smaller man beat a good top ten ring magazine ranked larger man on points in a significant fight at heavyweight?

I didn't know age was relevant? Didn't you just say 'good top 10'?

My theory is that if the larger man is skilled, he seldom loses on points to the smaller in his prime. The smaller guy might win, but the chances of it are via knockout in the past 30 years in, and in most cases, that upset happens if he lands his best stuff first.

Tomasz Adamek 6 ft 1 1/2in 217lbs knocked Chris Arreola, 6'3in 250lbs out of the top ten in 2010.

        - - Reviewed that fight of nothing. Axel could do little, but George slow and barely motivated did not KO the little feller, so by ancient boxing criteria that continues to this day, almost always a slugger cannot win in the boxing fan eye if he fails to KO his opponent.

This first came up in the Peralta first fight where novice George had to work mightily, but knocked Peralta around for 10 rounds. Knocked him out in the rematch, but Peralta still savvy enough to later draw vs Lyle.

99-9-9 record don't lie. Peralta was HOF worthy.

Yes, but being his prime or near to it matters too which was mentioned in the thread.

He is listed at 6'3" with a 76" reach, clearly not a big heavyweight expect if we are talking waist size. A tier 2 big guy at best if your qualify him as such.

Too 10 seemed to be the qualifier. I think you’re moving the goalposts aren’t you?

That fight ought to qualify with the (known) parameters….

That's what I'm saying. I don't think this is nearly as one sided as he anticipated. There have been plenty of examples shown, and there are probably more out there.

Usyk doesn’t count because although he was significantly smaller AND won on points, he wasn’t “small enough?”
