Cover dates run 3-4 months ahead of the results meaning the June cover date is where the fight was covered. I have the mags. I physically opened and liked at the pages. Six months before the fight through the result. Unless Solis slid in and out of the rankings online between print issues, BoxRec is wrong on this. I can post the ratings in pics if you like later but at this point you’re just insisting on being wrong.
Go for it, June as I said doesn't matter for a March fight. The rankings are adjusted by then. Look for the 2011 rankings in February, March and April. I am sure they are there in print. Again forget the June issue. Show me pictures in the months I said, I can be wrong of course but I tend to doubt it. My memory is pretty good. I follow the rankings and of the times and Klitschko. On that other forum which I don't want to repeat, others said Soils was ranked too. And Box Rec says the same thing. Could all of us be mistaken?

Like I said its one small error on a fine piece of work.

    • Yes, you could all be wrong strictly based on what was in the print issues. I can't figure out how to get the pictures to upload so I'll type it out:

April cover date, Rankings for period ended Jan 23, 2011, page 18:

      Champ: Wlad
      1. Vitali (record listed at 41-2, 38 KO)
      2. Haye
      3. Povetkin
      4. Adamek
      5. Chagaev
      6. Chambers
      7. Boytsov
      8. Valuev
      9. Dimitrenko
      10. Arreola

May Cover Date, rankings as of Feb 20, 2011, page 18:

      Champ: Wlad
      1. Vitali (record listed at 41-2, 38 KO)
      2. Haye
      3. Povetkin
      4. Adamek
      5. Chagaev
      6. Chambers
      7. Boytsov
      8. Valuev
      9. Dimitrenko
      10. Arreola

June Cover Date, rankings as of March 20, 2011, page 18:

      Champ: Wlad
      1. Vitali (record listed updated to 42-2, 39 KO)
      2. Haye
      3. Povetkin
      4. Adamek
      5. Chagaev
      6. Chambers
      7. Boytsov
      8. Dimitrenko
      9. Arreola
      10. Pulev

Page 17, ratings analysis notes Valuev exited due to inactivity. If Solis moved in online for that, it is conceivable he was 10 for a minute between issues strictly online but there is no evidence of it in the magazine and no mention of Solis entering and exiting. The closest date I could find in wayback was 2/26: https://web.archive.org/web/20110221...49-heavyweight

      No Solis.

if there was a brief change prior to the fight, it wasn’t recorded by then. That wouldn't be an error in my work because the work was based solely on print issues. The fight result is on page 98.

      Does that suffice?

      • You guys are way past my capabilities to confirm anything other than Ring Magazine's annual rankings.

One guy a few weeks back try get some momentum going for posting the month by month rankings for The Ring but it never got
        off the ground.

Anyway Wikipedia has Solis listed as the WBC #1contender at the time of the fight.

So what I am understanding is that Solis couldn't make the Ring's top ten but was #1with a scantioning body.

        Sounds like business as usual.

So what's the dispute about. Does it matter if he was Ring ranked? Was the fight a mandatory?

        • OK so what is going on with the phrase . . .(#1)

#1pushed next to a word will print as it should

Home (#1) standing on its own posts as Home (in red)

          ?????

The red Home is a hot link but takes you to a blank page.

          Gremlin anyone?

It matters if a poster is trying to boost a shallow record of a fighter he is a fan of ,and to do so is flat out ignoring documented evidence to the contrary, that calls into question not only his credibility but his honesty imo.
              We already know his motive.

Thank you for the time you have dedicated to this.

I think everyone, bar one is persuaded by your facts and that singular exception will never concede he is wrong.

It’s certainly possible Valuev was removed online and Solis moved in. They did update that stuff online weekly and I was on their Ratings Panel in 2011. I don’t recall that and don’t think anyone has every week of movement over the last 15-20 years since they started weekly online updates. If someone does, more power to them.

it wasn’t significant enough to make it into a single monthly issue.

                  • The significance of Solis being 10 or 11 in ring magazine is quite minuscule regardless isn’t it? It’s not like it changes a lot…..

Nothing, the significance is in a poster insisting he was despite evidence to the contrary.
