If he blamed D'Amato, then he should've praised him when Patterson won the rematch.

        • It has been often said that Carnera was "mob-controlled" and that many of his fights had been "fixed." But see: "Myler's (Patrick) Ring of Hate, which gives an analysis of Carnera's career and reasons Carnera's fights weren't fixed.
        • Carnera was hospitalized with a kidney hemorrhage following the Zupan fight (Dec 1937); his kidney was removed in January 1938. Inactive: 1938-1943.
        • Married March 18, 1939 in Sequals, Italy
        • Carnera joined the Italian anti-******* partisans and was wounded by the ****s near Cremona, Italy, in 1943
        • Carnera became a United States citizen.
        • After his boxing career, he continued his wrestling career, winning the so-called "world championship."
        • First wrestling bout, New York late October 1946.
        • Appeared in several movies: Carnera's IMDb credits
        • His life story inspired Budd Schulberg's novel (and later film) The Harder They Fall (Humphrey Bogart's final movie); Carnera sued for defamation.
        • "A weakness for alcohol began to take its toll on Carnera in the 1960s and, in 1967, following a collapse brought on by diabetes and cirrhosis of the liver, he returned to his hometown of Sequals." The Italian Stallions: Heroes of Boxing's Glory Days

          .
"Many suspected Hall Of Famer Jack Sharkey of giving less than his best when he lost the world championship to the ungainly Primo Carnera.Sharkey vehemently denied the charges for the rest of his life, but Carnera had well known underworld connections and won other fights in which his opponents took dives.Reportedly Carnera's handlers arranged the fixes without his knowledge"
"Jeff ****son,an American promoter domiciled in France for some fights matched Primo with veteran puncher Leon Sebillo for a purse of1000 francs at the Salle Wagram,Paris in September 1928.
Carnera knocked him out in the second round.Leon See, [Carnera's manager] would later reveal in a book that he gave Sebillo 500 francs out of his own pocked to throw the fight
and Sebillo agreed to leave his guard open so that Carnera could land a right that would lay him out for the full count"
This would set the trend in Carnera's career.See revealed that at least 28 of Carnera's fights up to the end of 1930 were fixed.
For Carnera's second fight against Joe Thomas,See took half of Carnera's 3000 francs and gave it to Thomas,to take it easy and go down in the third round.Thomas duly obliged.
And so it went, See coming to financial arrangements with Carnera's opponents many times the money coming out of Carnera's own purse.Primo was still none the wiser. Those who were not paid to fall down, were either faded veterans,or no-hopers who would lose anyway."
Carnera's first straight fight was a loss by dsq to Franz Diener in1929 in Leipzig, Diener hit Carnera in the groin with a hard left hook in the 1st rd.Primo went down groaning and for some unaccountable reason
the referee instead of dsq Diener ordered Carnera to continue after a 5 minute rest Carnera refused and he was dsq'd,and his purse was held up.

"He matched Primo with See's approval with the talented American Young Stribling at the RAH in London. The arrangement was that Stribling would hit Carnera below the belt in the 4th rd and be dsq'd.
This would leave the way clear for a lucrative return and a certain sell out in the Ve'lodrome d'Hiver in Paris a few weeks later, again of course promoted by Jeff ****son.Stribling would win the 2nd fight, again on a dsq with the exact finish to be worked out later."

"The first one went according to plan with Stribling landing a right wll below the belt with all the force of a desert spoon landing in a rice pudding Carnera slithered down and rolled over from side to side whereupon Stribling was dsq'd."
The second fight followed the script with Carnera punching Stribling after the bell ending the 7th rd,even backhanding the referee to make certain of being ruled out.Sure enough he was promptly dsq'd."
On his US debut at MSG inJan1930 Carnera knocked out the Canadian Big Boy Peterson in70 seconds. What the spectators were not aware of was that Peterson had agreed to take a right to the jaw and go down for the count."

A week later in Chicago Elzear Rioux fell to the canvas for no particular reason after 47 seconds of the 1st rd.When Carnera yelled at Rioux to get up he did so,only to be put down immediately by a light right cross to the head for the full count. The Illinois AC confiscated Rioux's purse and fined him$1000 ,"for play acting unbecoming a fighter."
The fights with Bombo Chevalier and Ace Clark are well known .well known to serious students of the game that is you probably haven't a clue about them!lol The Chevalier fight resulted in the suspension of both Chevalier and Bob Perry his second licences as well as Carnera's ,Duffy's,Friedmans Soresis and Sees.by The California AC.NY followed suit and ordered a full investigation into Carnera'fights."
Ricardo Bertazzolo refused to take a dive against Carnera his manager Aldo Linz slit his eyebrow with a razor between the second and third rounds ,then covered it with vaseline, the first punch on the cut started the blood flowing and the fight was stopped.

Pat Macarthy went into the tank in Newark and Jack Gross went for a swim in Chicago.
" Three kidnapping threats were made to Sharkey's children before his fight with Carnera".
Joe Williams the boxing writer for the New York World Telegram wrote aweek before the fight.Referring to Sharkey and his manager Fat Johnny Buckley,"put on the hot seat ,I would have to admit I would not trust either one of these guys as far as I could throw theEmpire State Building with my left hand.Which is another way of saying that ,in this fight you can make your own choice,I don't want any part of it."

Know where all this comes from?

Boxing's Hall Of Shame Know who wrote it? Thomas Myler!LOL

"Primo's opponents either came into the ring leaning on or were more than normally sensitive to strong drafts" Boxing Historian John McCallum.

            - - Primo was BIGGER than boxing then. Because of Primo a movement of the Super Deadnaught division began that has now placed the Heavyweight division in 225+ lbs.

So, all the HOFers Primo fought are just mob controlled anecdotes and myths to U igno.

U been busted son, and suddenly the skirt of your wife has become your laughable Fig Leaf for snickers all around.

Thanks for the reminder, and please do go buy your wife something nice instead of losing U money in illicit wagering schemes, or have U become utterly shameless?

Patterson use to tell a story about when he was knocked down (2nd KD) he was on one knee and staring through the ropes into the front row. He was looking John Wayne in the face. Concussed, he couldn't figure out why The Duke had climbed into the ring.
I've never rated Ruby Goldstein as a ref.

My point is if someone is going to be critical of someone when they mess up, they should praise them just as strongly when they do well. Like Michael Corleone says in Godfather 2 when he escapes prosecution and says that he hopes that his name would be praised as much as it has been besmirched after the hearings against him. But that rarely happens because usually we love to tear people down, but often don't like giving them credit, so Louis' view here seems a bit short sighted.

To be honest I'm not that big on D'Amato,His fueds cost Jose Torres a title shot at middleweight which he may well have won.
D'Amato was hand in glove with Fat Tony Salerno so all that BS about not defending or fighting IBC guys on moral grounds was totally hypocritical , an excuse to avoid the dangerous men.
I'm also not sold on having all your fighters fight in the same style. The peek a boo stance means some of your vision is obscured at times and Patterson standing square on accounted for some of KD's imo.I do believe D;Amato was never motivated by money,in that sense he was a purist.

Yeah I understand. But with the same trainer, some of the same things are gonna come up in training stylistically.
