Two guys who preferred to counter. It was a fight of quick exchanges frollowed by disconnects. I never looked but I suspect little clinching. End result athleticism carried the day.

If they had met again when older and BOTH slower I think Toney by decision. I think in the end he was actually the better boxer/fighter.

Their styles didn't match up well (for a great fight to break out) and they spent more time looking for opportunities than capitalizing on them. But I think your right I think Jones won every minute --- each (limited; careful) exchange went Jones' way. Never seemed to be a time when Toney got the best of an exchange.

One of those fights that needed to go 45 rounds if we're going to actually know who was the better man. But they stopped doing that.

I know that he had some trouble in his early title reign but he just became amazing.

Was he the best ever? Not in my opinion.

Why can't you just except that James Toney was an exceptional fighter.
