Better career: James Toney, Andre Ward, or Shane Mosley?

All 3 were inducted into the Hall of Fame this weekend.

Mosley likely earned the most money of the three, but is about equal in terms of resume with Toney. Both had some PED controversy during their careers, and it’s uncertain as to how much they helped. They were both champions in three weight classes.

Ward retired undefeated but his resume isn’t as stacked as the other two, and didn’t make nearly as much money. He was a champ in two weight classes and an Olympic gold medalist. He took the least amount of wear and tear on his body.

I would have to say Mosley had the best career of the three. He has been in with the biggest superstars in boxing…Oscar, Floyd, Manny, Canelo to name a few.

GhostofDempsey breaks it down nicely. I feel like of the three, Toney is the one you could best build a case against being inducted. Not that I feel it's a travesty, but I can think of a few fighters of the past who have lingered on the ballots awhile who I pick first.

            Andre Ward probably.

Toney and Mosley around the same level of career.

Shane Mosley didn't face a murderer's row at lightweight but he looked unbeatable in that division. All the speed and power you could want.

Looked pretty beatable against Phillip Holiday.

Which was (not so) coincidentally the only ranked Lightweight he ever fought.

Andre Ward Really fought all comers and left the middle/Super middle division only when it was bereft of any competition. I do not think it is close. To put it in perspective: As an underdog to most of the fighters in the super middle tourney how many guys would wind up winning? Ok, possible right? How many guys would wind up dominating!? making it look easy, as an underdog!

I love Toney as well as Ward... and don't know as much about Mosley as I should. I suspect Mosley had the second best ranking. Toney is a fighter that was mecurial and his record was not in itself necessarily a good representation of what was so special about him.

We're Leija and Molina not ranked when he fought them? I'm pretty sure both were past their best, but I thought they were ranked at the time and looked at as another stepping stone to Mosley's ascension to lightweight dominance.
