I remember him on Classic ,think he called himself Glaukos or something similar? Glucose?
He was always trying to stimulate debate about the ancient cestus fighters etc .nobody gave a **** about them and he drifted away, or was invited to leave,I can't remember which ,and its unimportant.
He used to fly into rages at the slightest thing ,it became something of a standing joke there
.He thought he was some great expert who was much too good for the rest of us,and didn't need any encouragement to tell everyone! The first couple of posts he made,I thought he was having a wind up,then I realised he was deadly serious!
He used to crack me up ,rambling on about some guys called Mythos or Sonoros. from the 4th Century BC or whenever, whom nobody had ever heard of and couldn't care less about.
Meanwhile there were real knowledgeable posters there such as Henry Hascup,Joe Rein,Springs Toledo,Steve Compton,Adam Pollack,Clay Moyle ,Rumsfeld ,Ted Spoon etc, with whom people wanted to exchange opinions and compare notes with.

The system obviously has a more advanced quality control than you do! lol[/QUOTE]

Any system that lets information come in and be dissected, understood, etc and the free exchange of ideas works well. If you understood the philosophers of science, Kuhn and Popper principally you would understand that systems seldom actually do so... Every bit of information and insight is tainted by social cues, prejudices (in the objective sense not levelling as a critiscism) etc. We are not only social beings but often systems of knowledge and information contradict... For example, curing a headache is not only done different in Chinese and Allopathic medicine, but they may well employ means that are totally opposite/contradictory to the opposing system.

YOU don't find value in Marge's research... Your judgements about that information do not affect me... Telling someone that they are lacking because they see value in something you cannot is ultimately, when done on a forum just another way of censorship... Bottom line.

IMO Douglas lending his name to the new rules was more about brininging legitimacy to the rules and moving the fight game out of the alleyways and into the Sporting Clubs, than it was about him taking credit for their innovation.

It doesn't seem to have been a secret who actually wrote the rules, even at that time. -- I could be wrong.

RE Xu Xia: From what little I know about him, he is the one who is getting hassled from the powers above. It seems these fake gurus have some serious connections and he is the one suffering not the frauds he exposes. Hope I am wrong on this one.
What do those with titles do? they lend their titles out... I wouldn't assume to know anything about The marquis of Queensbury lol. I would assume, like most aristoc**** he was capable of learning, having a great education... And that his patronage came with a price, like all the compliments while others did the grunt work lol.

The Chinese government has gone after Xu. For a long time after the Cultural Revolution Chinese boxing was put in the same dustbin as many other traditional Chinese pursuits. Relatively recently the Chinese government saw the value of Chines boxing economically and as a means of generating nationalism... hence when Xu and his students was knockin em down... He was told to cool it. But he has some leverage because the government also likes that Chinese San Da (MMA) is competative as a system for fighting in MMA circles.
