Robinson didn't KO Fullmer whilst moving backwards. It's a myth started by shortsighted careless viewers.

Let me explain as this is kinda my particular baliwic: and while this is theoretical in a ring, it is a common enough martial arts technique. What makes an arm punch versus a body punch is grounding of the body. So, if I am doing a long stepping punch I learn to time the hand landing with the stepping foot landing simultaneously.

Just reverse the punch... You come towards me I lift leg, and as back leg hits I extend the punch. With proper grounding you don't need so much forward momentum.

The punch Moore floored Rocky with was indeed a right upper cut. I had a centerfold photo from a boxing magazine of that in my room as a kid. Rocky rushed headlong into that punch.

Its actually a bit of a trick question. In fact? No you can't complete the punch without arresting movement of the feet... Not going backwards. I can lurch forwards and punch while my feet are not grounded. For a punch going backwards to be powerful your back foot has to cease and to ground, prefarably as you sink. I don't think this would work in boxing...it is standard for some martial arts like Hsin Yi.

From the man who claimed chins of fighters from the past were more solid. I guess we put that bit of nonsense to bed. Guess what? I just did the impossible--I threw a punch while going backwards.

You're an idiot. Who said it was a proper punch?

They used to not even score improper punches. They had to land well. Even to this day, I don’t think backing up and throwing an arm punch would earn you any stripes.

I would say Moore's punch was good enough to be scored, since it blasted Rock off his feet. I also say he was moving backwards, after watching the video a hundred times.
