Nobody, absolutely nobody could ever beat Brian Sutherland on the cobbles. You could put hammers in your gloves and spike his water, he's still kicking your ass in the streets. A fighting legend. Nash out.

Tough is a relative judgement... My old man (RIP dad) went into the Marines, second World War as a ***ish Radio man... Essentially you had the Germans, antisemites and others who did not want to fight the Japanese, while the Japanese would take out the communications guys first to cut off a troop. But my dad? never carried himself like a tough guy. Never spoke like GoldWater, Arizona pioneer, never looked tough. My dad also helped a muscle bound fellow marine with a fear of heights, down from the deck of a ship into the water... But me and him would walk through the worse neighborhood in the World at the time (the South Bronx) to walk to yankee stadium... by way of East Harlem! And all the tough hombres the Puerto Rican switchblade carriers etc, would smile and say hello to us.

If you train to fight a certain way, under certain conditions, then you will know how to handle yourself... toughness? Its all relative. If I had to pick? Give me John Blume and Donn Draeger, martial arts pioneers. Both men were incredibly rugged, loved to mix it up, and were very able!

          Even kids.

Sounds like my granddad. Your pops was cool. My gramps fought the japs but I don't know much about it because he never much wanted to talk about it, but he was warm and not scared of a ****ing thing.

Reading this, I dunno why but something just clicked. I read "martial arts" as we do just over and over again all the time and don't ever much think about it. We all know what martial arts is. But this time I see "martial" and I think, that ****'s referring to Mars. Ares. God of War. So I looks to confirm and yup

Martial comes from the Latin martialis, meaning "of Mars"—Mars in this case being not the planet but the Roman god for whom the planet was named. - Websters

Which means boxing is not a true martial art. It's Apollonian as you all well know because I tell you so loads.

Y'all probably knew that ****, but I just found out and thought it was interesting

My Dad was 70th infantry Division, Battle of the Bulge, operation Northwind. Tender hearted, did the right thing always. Tough in the best ways.
