When I was coming up my karate club days I was in a fighting club... and many of the students were from rather well organized gangs in the Baltimore/Washington Metro area. Thing is, these were cutthroats, killers, dojo stormers, etc...

Dante was before my time... lol. You know something? despite his crass commercialism, The count (John Keehan) was actually a student of Robert Trias who was a karate pioneer. Trias was alleged by some to not want to teach **********, although living where he did not many ********** were around (Arizona). Keehan went into the ****** areas and trained students. he was legit for many years... But by the time of the dojo storming and the incident where a student was stabbed during a storming, Keehan was a shell of himself. Dies alone, under great stress, his stomach literally gave out on him and he hemoraged.

Oh yeah... I would never claim otherwise... Of course the guys I trained with and who trained me were incredible fighters so I fought very well, taught/teach others to do so, but I would never claim to be one who enjoys fighting... Never did, aside from the adrenaline.
