My second born son is a real car enthusiast so against my better judgement I often listen to his recomendations. I wanted an old van to do inspections in and he starts telling me about this Toyota Previa. I see the thing and look at him like "really?" Kid was right. They have space to spare and yet, are like parking a small car (important in the Bay Area)... Incredible power, the super charger never breaks down (unlike turbo). My wife had a Celica that went on until the floorboards rusted out... lol. Great trick question to ask a car person? what Toyota cars are supercharged? The assumption is these cars will be sports car, when one is the previa.

Ive heard that some American cars are great, a lot of it is maintenance. I also have a real soft spot for the BMW 3 and 5 series... Im talking the older cars, circa 1990's early 2000's. I had a 1970's 5 series it only had like 2005 horsepower but the torque on that thing! It was fast and drove beautifully. It got smashed after years in a dust up on Fell street in san francisco where someone panicked and stopped suddenly... My car mechanic refused to fix it saying it would not be worth it and demanded I buy his wife's Integra (thank you Jiame! for not taking advantage of my love for that car). That integra another great car BTW lol. Also had a 320 BMW that we used for years... eventually it had only 3 cylinders, we still could use it... We used to take it to catering gigs, when we got to a bad hill everyone would get out, then reconvene at the top lol.

I always buy my cars at auction. Never had a dud yet. have an F150 that is a great truck that I got for under 3k. Thats my pick up for Nevada, runs like a champ as well.
Camry sounds like the way to go for my for my next car, probably something from the 2010s so I can still have a CD player with a media player.

Tell ya a story... I used to do audits on car dealerships... I actually even went as far as your neck of the woods lol. I used to do smaller to midsize dealers, in maryland Pennsylvania, New york, etc. Used to enjoy it, would take my kid with me... good times! Well one time locally in Maryland I roll up in the Camry Dad left me, I guess it was around 1994 the camry was. I remember this because the owner of the dealership came in and damn... the guy was a dead ringer for my first born. Turns out he was also a nice sort and was telling me about the business. Being that he was a young guy already in the business I felt a bit paternal towards him... knowing what it entails to own your own business and all...

We wind up speaking about cars. Whereupon he informs me that my old (I would say piece of shiat Camry, but being it was Dad's lol...) somewhat dated, not exactly speed demon of a Toyota is a real keeper. He explained to me that modern vehicles create all kinds of vacuum links, pressurized parts of the motor, that blows them out eventually and that a Camry would last indefinitely because it did not use such technology. Apparently they are wunder cars... their systems are done in a superior way. This also affects things like the air conditioning lines. In the Camry the air was fabulous, my previa still has decent air as well.

Anthony, consider trying a local auction. I have had such good luck! They usually have a lot of older toyotas for sale. Camrys are solid. I have also driven a Yaris here with the hills and it was fabulous as well. I would also check Craigs List. I bought a Mercedes a few years back in pristine condition, a 2002 ML500, he wanted 3 grand for it. It had like 150 miles on it. We still have the car, it rides very nicely, I bought it for my wife because she does not like my jealopies lol. I will probably get me an older BMW soon... I miss the ride of a Beemer. the mercedes has a tremendous engine, but something about the way a BMW handles.

I was thinking more along the lines of certified pre owned type cars with lower miles or a site like Carvana. You know, like 50K miles, maybe less? Latest model I can get still with a CD player.

Damn wish I had known you were a CD geek just gave away close to 120 CDs - From the Brothers Gershwin - to the Stray Cats - and a shlt load of Stones.

Not to mention a very extensive collection of video tapes. Couldn't find a damn VCR for sale anywhere.

P.S. All my vinal records went up in smoke in a house fire back in the early 90s. The funny thing is, today you can once again buy turntables.

Actually more DVDs these days. But I like some CDs when it comes to some favorite artists of my youth and a few recent artists that don't suck.

Yeah closer to new. I heard models from the 2010s still have CD players.

Nah single player. I'm old school man. That's why I check out the history section.
