Marvelous will always have a home in the temples of Apollo's rite no matter the form they take. I know of Theaganese, the me of 2k years from now will know Marvelous Marvin Hagler. Our memories become histories and our histories are shared.

That iron will and unrelenting mentality in and out of the ring was something. A guy like Holyfield funnily enough developed it because of his mother always putting it in his head that defeat or backing down in any way was never an option. I wonder how Marvin developed it, there doesn't seem to be a lot of info about his upbringing.

Duran, despite being one of the most menacing individuals in the ring, has shown himself to be an evolved, compassionate and loving person, especially when it comes to fellow fighters. Anthony... I actually think you may have shared the following? A fellow fighter was dying in the hospital and it showed Duran hugging him. Their fight had been acrimonious. You know me and names lol... I just remember that picture on a thread, and I thought you had posted it.

Im sure Duran had love in his heart for Marvin.

He did say his mama raised him. And that she was tough. Just have to say: Back in my day, and I grew up around Marvin's generation... I am ten years younger... When a women brought up a household she compensated by being extra tough! As opposed to what one often sees where kids raised by a women alone are emotional wrecks, soft, used to having the women make excuses for their acting out... In my time, kids were often kept more in line! Women were tougher...

Heck even my family with a dad around. My mother was like one of those samurai... she could, in one fluid movement lift her foot, grab her shoe and catch me right on the duff! then as I was stopped in my tracks, shoe was put right back where it belonged.

Hagler use to tell a story about his early childhood in Newark, NJ and his mother. -- he said, his mother made the decision to move to Massachusetts while they were laying on the floor yet again, hiding from the gun fire and the riots around them. It seems his mother was his mentor not a dad.
