[QUOTE=Dr. Z;n32221483]Still no re-match for Vitali vs. Lewis? Why?/QUOTE]
Didn't Lewis win that fight? Lewis took the initiative to avenge his losses. He had every right to retire after stopping Vits. On the flipside Vits had every right not to seek out a Byrd rematch after losing, but it's a bad look no matter how you try and spin it, especially when he fought just a month after his brother had to take care of business for him and with him and Byrd so closely ranked for several years.them_apples

Lewis only looked for re-matches when he needed them vs. Rhaman and McCall to avenge early KO losses! He did not re-match Bruno, Mercer or Vitali in closes fights. In Vitali's cases Lewis said multiple times he would re-match him, and the money was there. Vitali was up 4-2 all three cards when the fight was called by the ring doctor on a cut. Lewis played a waiting game for months and tried to make other matches with Johnson and Jones. When the WBC ordered the re-match months later it was only then he retired.
If you think the onus is on the challenger to get the rematch, Vitali did that! Get your story straight, Cowboy and embrace the facts.

During and interview with Louis and Ali, Ali said he wanted to emulate Joe Louis and be a fighting champ, adding that he wanted to have his own 'bum of the month club.'
Later in the discussion Ali ribbed Louis a little asking him if he would have fought him back then.
Louis, with his wonderfully dry wit, replied: "I certainly would have made you one of my bums."
I think Louis actually said," when I was champ the reporters called it a bum of the month tour",Ali replied ,"do you mean I'm a bum," Louis replied, "you would have been on the tour".
As far as I am aware Louis never called anyone a bum, it came from boxing writers.In his autobiography Louis said those guys weren't bums they were good honest fighters.

Yeah Cowboy. Bums like Braddock the journeyman who was beaten by many people and have not fought in two years, but floored Joe Louis, Tommy Farr who stunned him on film , and a fat slob Galento who did the same ..." Bums of the month " they were called then and now, were special indeed. These bums would not be ranked at heavyweight today!!!! But they were ranked back in the 1930's. Someone had to be.
Wlad would not lose a round let alone get knocked down from these " bums " . Give him those small gloves that Louis used and he might be arrested.
Still no re-match for Vitali vs. Lewis? Why?
You make a mockery of yourself to anyone informed that has seen the films or reviewed the records of who these " Bums lost to "
This is disgusting,especially coming from you who has never had a boxing match.Braddock,Farr, and Galento were all very brave men.Pro fighters are not bums.
It takes guts to get in a ring for a real fight ,and enormous courage to face a destroyer like Louis,more courage than you have ever possessed.
Your hate posts on Johnson,Dempsey,Louis, and Lewis are well documented on this and another forum.
It shows the sickening disrespect we have come to expect from you.Last edited by Ivich; 04-05-2024, 05:05 AM.

How can Louis at the time look at those fighters as trash? You're very slow. If you think Louis when he was old in the 70s, when he saw some of that era Ali fought in that, Joe didn't look back at his era as trash. Of course he did. He saw the era he was watching as way more advanced, just like I see the Ali era as way more advanced. Stop the crap.
drop any or those guys from the galento era in 70s and they all are destroyed they never seen. Guys as advanced as guys in 70s
