Yep, we didn't see enough of the real prime Dempsey.

He was another fighter like Ali and Tyson whose prime was lost prematurely due to circumstances.

I always found the Pac-lads to be the worst by far. Well, maybe not by far, the Mayweatherites (Horus etc) are also highly unstable and insane. Some of the Marg, Cotto guys are also a bit loony. I don't know, most top fighters have their special one's, but I have still found Peso Pacquiao's fans to be the worst. Guys like Sonic Flood (can't remember what he has changed his name to now), Hard2kill, Pacdbest etc etc are actually really quite scary. Their obvious mental deficiencies have me worried for those close to them if Pac ever loses.

I made a post earlier about the klit-huggers. I myself stated that PBF fans turned Pwill is the worst. Now I'm finished reading a classic thread on NSB about Mayweather vs. Duran @ 135.

        I found these gems:

        I guess that was a prime Duran @ 135....

Those next ones made me lol:

Did any of you that chose that option even watch the Leonard-Duran fight? Im not saying Floyd is Leonard but styles match up the same. Floyd-Duran fight would be the same result as Leonard-Duran and everyone will accuse Floyd of the same thing they accused Leonard.

        Sweet Science a.k.a Running.
To me at least there's a big difference between SRL and PBF.

The next one agrees, but in a SLIGHTLY different parameter that I would suggest:

The next one is an instant classic. Sosa is now officially an ATG:

that making love to floyd mess you put only proves how disoriented you are. think before you type punk.
According to himself this guy knows his boxing. I'm glad he said that because I was fooled:

These are the two greatest quotes from that thread (in my opinion):

victoriano sosa stood a better chance against floyd than duran did...
he did this with hatton, a guy who's skillset can be compared with duran's.

wow. people like that make a serious boxing discussion difficult. sadly, it's an all too common occurrence.

              Damn, those were very special!

What I found amusing was when he said Castillo came close to beating Floyd by bum-rushing him and although he says Duran does this better than Castillo he would still not stand a chance and would lose every round, everyday and twice on Sunday.

What's interesting about people who say someone like Sosa stood a better chance than Duran is that even today, with all the organisations and titles floating around, Sosa was never able to win even a fringe title.

Sosa struggled with guys like Lamar Murphy, if he didn't lose in fact. Lost to Cotto, Mayweather, Spadafora and yet he stands a better chance at beating Mayweather than Duran does. Well, according to that guy Duran doesn't have any skill. He's a slow, plodding slugger that can't box and would simply get owned. Oh man....

The second Castillo fight is a better example, Mayweather was apparently injured in the first and only had one arm. I totally agree though, I have no idea how they come to the conclusion that Mayweather would totally handle Duran, who brings the pressure and so much more. Not to mention his punching power at lightweight.

To me, Prime means at your best. This has been discussed by Pro boxers, writers, and Trainers about Tyson at that time and they agree Tyson was not at his best. You can watch tape and tell he was not at his best.

This is why I brought in the poll of this question to clear things up:

"Could any version of Tyson post-Rooney {Spinks} beat Tyson while with Rooney during his years as Champion {Berbick-Spinks}?

                    What's your answer?

Douglas, for what its worth, was also a good fighter when he trained. McCall, who lost to Douglas, called him his toughest fight and said Douglas hit him harder than Lennox Lewis. Buster's jab was also praised by Holyfield for knocking a man down with that shot. Buster was a 6'3, 230 pound fighter with a long reach and was very athletic. He put together some good wins leading up to Tyson. He was no bum and he was young and motivated at that time. Shame that motivation dropped right after he beat Tyson.
In addition, in the fight against Tyson, Buster fought far better than he ever had before or ever did again. He was on fire. That version of Douglas would have given any of the ATGs a lot of trouble, even Louis and Ali (although he would have lost to them).

Haters and "nuthuggers" are two sides of the same coin and are as bad as each other - regardless of which fighter is involved. Neither are genuine boxing fans.

And many of them are simultaneously haters of some fighters and "nuthuggers" of others.
