Tyson had done gotten rid of Rooney by the time the Bruno fight came off and had no voice of authority in his corner. He didn't move his head as much and looked for one shot to finish things rather than deadly combos. In other words, he got away from what had made him successful.

I believe Tyson is overrated by several; but he is also vastly underated by others.

          and his justification of this?

"bruno did very very well in the 1st round of there fight"

somebody get this guy a glass of water a podium and an award because i think we got ourselves the next howard cosells

i was expecting the 100000th argument i've heard about tyson being overrated. front-runner, weak era, short time on top, etc...

Instead we get "Bruno did well for one round"

HAHA....stop the presses now. Bruno stunned Tyson and did well for a round.

I think I'll start and "Ali ******' thread because Banks and Cooper dropped him and Mildenberger hurt him to the body.

Tyson isnt overrated. Jack Johnson, Jack Dempsey, Joe Louis, George Foreman, Joe Fraizer, Muhammad Ali, Lennox Lewis, Evender Holyfield, Sonny Liston, Larry Holmes all had KNOCK OUT LOSSES on threir records. Just cause knocked them out one night doesent take away their greatness.

Tyson belongs up there with those guys for greatness to. He's a great fighter.

Sorry, I ment TKO'd by Holmes. Ali was a little too old for that one.

But ya, nearly all the greats have been sent to the canvas for the count.

Joe Louis, I think, is probably the best example of a fighter coming back from a knock out to dominate and show his greatness. Schmeling owned him in '36; but Joe got right back on track like it didn't bother him and destroyed Max two years later under ungodly pressure.

That's the thing that always bothered me about Mike. I think he was on his way to coming back after the Douglas loss; but then that Indiana crap happened and he was never the same. He showed against Ruddock that he was still at the top of the game, even though he'd let his skills slip after he got rid of Rooney; but he still wanted it.

Damn shame really. If he doesn't go to prison and got to fight Holyfield in 1991 when he was supposed to, we'd knowo more about him. That was his chance at redemption and could have re-written the history books on himself with a win in that fight, to say nothing of the matches that would have followed against Bowe, Lewis, Mercer, Moorer, etc. Damn shame.
