I'm not talking about whether or not they would have weapons, if a good boxer were to get into a street fight he could just end the fight quickly by knocking the other guy out with his quick hand speed right? so wouldn't they still end up winning in a street fight despite the fact street fights aren't bound by rules.
There are a small amount of boxers who actually will generate over a million dollars in their careers. Those who are fortunate enough to make that kind of money do not realize that the ride is a short lived one and they tend to squander what ever they may have earned through their careers. Most boxers come from a low income family, have a low level of education and generally do not know how to handle all of the money.
Consider also that they pay their managers around 30-35% of the purse, then they pay their cut men, corner men and trainers. This is paid from what is left after Uncle Sam takes his huge cut. Fighters are a rare breed that will go through the torturous training every day in hopes of making the money. Most will never earn enough per year to live on alone, therefore most fighters will also have a job that they tend to when not training.
You want to see if you got what it takes to fight? I say first lets see if you have what it takes to give everything that you have in the gym, then go to work for 8-10 hours after that. You will not recieve any compensation for months of training at a time. If you really believe that you have what it takes and can live at a level of poverty while your doing it then you may have a chance. Otherwise, I would recommend staying in school and getting that piece of paper that the world thinks makes a man.
The Ghost of Rockin' :boxing:
but wouldn't it be easier then instead of squandering it to just invest the million dollars they make into a successful company?? why don't they ever do that? plus as you said most aren't very educated, how exactly do they get by financially when they go into retirement then??
What needs to happen to keep boxing alive is get rid of PPV
yeah that's for sure, but I got a black box so I can watch any PPV for free :D so it doesn't bother me much. Btw I'm live in B.C too
